Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

City? Entire country had those machines everywhere.
:) My thought was that if there was one of those in our town, the first person would have stolen the cup.

When I was a kid, a group of us would leave school at the same time and if one of us had the 25 cents, they'd buy a bottle of soda, and we'd take turns drinking it. If someone was a "germophobe" like me, they'd wipe of the top of the bottle with their shirt tail before drinking, and avoid drinking the last half an ounce, because clearly that's where the germs were. This is mid 70's.

Did we hang out together as kids? Sounds like we were part of the same group.
:)

My dad would bring up “when he was in school (one room country school, all grades in the same room, the bell from it still is in my cousins barn down the road) they had one bucket of water that one of the older boys would go fill up from the creak each morning and they all used the same dipper to drink from” when ever the topic of germs were brought up. And if pressed he would would also mention the creak was banked on both sides by pastures with cows and sheep crapping on the banks. Funny thing is I don’t ever, and I mean ever remember him having a cold, getting congested, or being sick. He died untimely in his early 60’s, but never once did I see him get sick.

Remember Jack Handy from SNL?

“Dad always said laughter was the best medicine. I guess that is why my brother died from tuberculosis”.

To be fair he did also mention having pneumonia a few times and scarlet fever while growing up..

But he survived it….

Even today, my Mom's church has a SINGLE wine chalice for communion. The priest has a rag with which he wipes the rim after each person sips.

YUCK!

We do intinction at our church, much better for hygiene. Yeah, solid nope on drinking after 100 others.

CB radio to alert the cousins and children. They have the shotguns. The last one that I met in the woods had a .22 semi automatic rifle, tubular mag, and dangerously impaired by his product. Not the guy you want to face while he has his finger on the trigger. It did not help my image that I was wearing khaki pants and about 30 years old.

She can also alert them if there is visible smoke.

I passed by the strip club yesterday. Seems they’ve fallen on hard times… sign on the door said, “Sorry, we’re clothed”.
More likely just remodeling after Mike Tyson bought the place.

It’s there. She’s spotting revenuers.
I used to fly fire patrol in south and south western West Virginia. I quickly learned to ignore thin columns of smoke coming from thick stands of trees.

:) I'm familiar with the area... My bet would be rifle, probably 30-06 or .308, scoped.

Those have too much recoil and muzzle blast for grandma. I’d bet she has an AR-15 with a suppressor and either a scope or a red dot. And a crate of 5.56 FMJ.

Might just be grandpappy's old muzzleloader...

Many years ago, my son and I stopped at an antiquated gas station near a small town deep in eastern Kentucky.

Mine slag pavement, pumps were old manual, and no one came to pump for us, so we filled up and walked in. Attendant was a tall, rawboned, grey haired woman. We told her the gallons and dollars, she made change from a wooden box. I asked if customers ever tried to fill up and drive away?

Once in a while, and I just leap over this counter with this (12 guage Winchester model 12 with the old style 5 shot tubular magazine), screaming like a Comanchee, and if they do not stop, fire a blast in the air. They usually back right up, apologize, and pay.

If they do not stop, the next slug goes through the back window. Never needed 3.

They pay for the gas and the shotgun shells I used. The locals are honest, and know how hard I work for the little I make, only strangers try to get something free.

I then asked if that was why there was blood on the floor? No, I run a deer reporting station here, and fresh ones make a mess, as I check them for legal and weigh them. About then my son noticed she was barefoot, but did not tell me until we were in the car.

Yes, I vote that grandma has a 12 guage, and slugs for all but the first shot.
