Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

We're packing the plane this afternoon with a target launch of 0700 on Friday so we'll be a couple of hours behind you. Is your buddy that's driving still coming and need a parking spot? If so what are the dates?
Yep, he'll need parking. He has his IFR checkride with the DPE on Monday and will arrive at Osh on Tuesday.

When is planning to leave as we're departing Friday the 26th?

Logistics question from a first-timer: When driving into the event, what's the best/quickest/easiest way to pick up a wristband band and use pre-paid parking? Where to enter, what signage to look for, anything to avoid?

Coming into the show, take hwy 44 exit toward the city, get in the right lane and turn right on Knapp road. I expect you won't be be able to miss getting in, there will be cones everywhere. Follow their directions to parking, it might help to put a "Prepaid" sign in your windshield in very large type, but probably you just have to stop and show someone your parking ticket.

There is some private parking, but you've prepaid, so you don't want that. Just follow the cones and volunteers will direct you. Wherever you park, there is a traffic loop that goes around the museum and comes back out on 44, it goes counter clockwise. There might be an out to go south along Scholler, the loop will be high traffic, especially shortly after the airshow.

Tickets are at the main gate, which is marked on the map as EAA AirVenture.

I believe there are times where the traffic flow reverses on the west end of that loop, so the prescribed entry if you follow the signs is to get off an exit to the south (Exit 113, Hwy 26).

Tickets/wristbands are available in several places, but if you're driving a car in each day and not camping, the main gate is the place to go - They have lots of windows and it flows reasonably quickly most of the time. If you can get there a day early, you should be able to get wristbands right away - I've always grabbed mine upon arrival at either the North 40 gate or the main Camp Scholler entrance on Sunday, depending on where I'm camping. That avoids the Monday morning rush.

Wait, you all are there already? I’m just now looking at my calendar, since I’ll probably have to boink off of work for this. How is GAP on Wednesday AM?

You should be able to get a spot. It may not be a good spot, but it'll be a spot. Bring good walking shoes!

Rock star parking! :D
All you have to do is get here a week early lol

In other news, my new tent is way bigger than it looked on the Internet :D

Dunno. I'll let you know as soon as I know. And if you leave before he does, I'm sure we can figure something out.

Please post a review after the show. I'm in the market for a new Oshkosh tent, something a bit bigger than my "two"-person backpacking tent. My wife said she'll go to Airventure if we have a place she can stand up in.

Uber is great. Drivers from all over descend on OSH to make money during the week. The only thing to be aware of is that there are specific Uber/Lyft pickup/drop-off locations on the site. They are on the EAA maps.

My new one is quite big, but I really like it so far. I'm 6'2" (1.88m) and can stand up in it. REI Wonderland X

Bryan is a model? That’s just Plane Silly. :)

Lightspeed marketing meeting: "After the increase in booth prices, we only have $1.67 left in our marketing budget for the ad. Who can we get with that?"

(seriously though, that's very cool to see @SixPapaCharlie )

They're parking Row 518, the first row west of the green shower house, in the North 40 here on Friday 7/19 @ 12pm central.
Cherokee are still taxiing in from their mass arrival and being parked down closer to the food tent as usual.

Nah, the Delta has $65 worth of parts and the rest of the price is Bryan's endorsement fee.

Wow. I didn't realize inflation was that bad. I remember what he used to be willing to do for two bits.

Arriving Tuesday and staying in the Dorm. I’ll be working in Hangar C at the Seaplane Pilots Association Booth afternoons Wednesday and Thursdays as well as Friday Morning.

I'll be there the whole week for FlySto.net

Stop by in Hangar A, booth 1013. Bring your logs if you have any . Looking forward to meeting many PoA people!

Internet kerfuffle grounding?

About to leave NH. Spending the night in UES, heading up first thing tomorrow morning in an effort to not get t boned by someone over Ripon. Hopefully there are some spaces left in the N40.

Our plan is finalized. Leaving Tuesday from Tampa, stopping overnight at Rough River KY, arriving Weds noon at OSH. I am worried we are cutting it close on arrival. But can't find a closer RON option that I am familiar with.
