What do you believe is flying over New Jersey?

I can’t believe no one has had the balls to shoot it down, illegal as it may be. You gots all kind of crim activity and mischief makers. Surely with that population there’s a bad apple out there stupid enough to do it.

Reminds me of our weakness with the Chinese balloon…
There are a few cases of people recording themselves emptying mags on the drones as they fly by unaffected. Sending rounds into the air, only to land god knows where. Not an easy target even for a skilled marksman. A shotgun with the choke removed with lead target shot is the ideal setup but you won’t see those boys out in the sticks posting videos.

Actually, a full choke would be a better choice with a decent goose load but even still, that's effective to perhaps 60 yards so not like any of them are optimal. This flavor of the week new will be gone in a bit.

Considering thatmost or all of the “drones” are airplanes miles away and thousands of feet up, even a .50 BMG wouldn’t reach them.

I don't live anywhere near NJ, and one of them flew over my house last night. It's a full-blown invasion.

And the talking heads drumbeat starts on the Sunday morning news shows:

"Federal and local law enforcement needs more authority to deal with this situation".

Ohferchrissakes.

 It doesn't match a single video I've seen. Seems more like grasping at anything similar in an attempt to justify their "we're being lied to!!1!" stance. Also, there is a drone route that runs between JBM and Dover AFB, the opposite direction from where the majority of the drone reports have been coming from.

I think it is a loose nuke. It was supposed to be along the I-70 corridor, but they're also looking at NJ. The drones are big.gov or contractors. The drones are nuclear sniffers. They don't want to tell people now because most people would lose their minds. They will either find it -- no harm no foul -- or the results will not be possible to ignore. Even if the nuke doesn't result in a fission or fusion event, it could leave several square miles of the US uninhabitable.

There were something like 80 nukes that were stored in Ukraine and may have been released into the wild.

Here we go ...

"On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at about 10:22 p.m., officers from the Boston Police Harbor Patrol Unit arrested 42-year-old Robert Duffy of Charlestown and 32-year-old Jeremy Folcik of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, on Long Island, part of the Boston Harbor Islands. The arrests followed a hazardous drone operation near Logan Airport's airspace. Both face trespassing charges, with additional fines or charges possible."

I don't know what to say. I'm on cruise 100 miles off of Cuba. Suffice to say, 150 miles off shore, I just saw something I cannot explain.

Thankfully, you're facing the truth - you saw something you couldn't explain. That happens every day.

Instead of posting on facebook that you definitely saw a big scary thing that must mean there is a _____ underway which threatens ______.

Did it look this?

You guys suck. I'm not crazy. I just saw something I cannot explain.

Lol
You're on a cruise yet you seem coherent like you haven't been drinking. Maybe you should be?
Yes. I'll reply tomorrow. I completely know and understand how this looks.

1 - people see what they expect to see. 2 - it's impossible to tell visually tell the altitude of a lighted object at night without knowing the size of the object, and even then it's tough.

Many years ago, when electric model aircraft were pretty new, we used to legally fly them over a local park. Because it gets dark early here in the winter, we put lights on them, because it's pretty tough to fly them without knowing the attitude as well as position. We used regular red/green/white lights. People called 911 to report aircraft flying around near their houses. They thought they were full sized aircraft flying at whatever height. Really, they were 2' long electric aircraft flying 200' off the ground. If you can only see the lights, a 2' plane at 200 looks exactly like a 20' plane at 2000...or closer. It was fun, though, explained to local PD, and after that they'd sometimes just park down near the park to watch us fly around. I think at least one picked up the hobby. That was before people called them all "drones", and today it would probably be a less fun encounter.

I hope no one takes any crazy action on all the NYC sightseeing helicopters flying out of NJ...even if they do sometimes fly weird, and in opposite directions from where they say they're going on the radio.

If whatever they are aren't violating airspace rules or regulations, then leave them alone. If they are violating airspace, then the controlling agency of that airspace should take action. I really don't care if flying machines happen to be using the sky legally. I don't own any controlled airspace, so I don't have any need to take action if they are in violation. What was that midwestern expression - "Mind you own business"?

Are you under the impression that military bases in the US are ringed by sophisticated defenses manned 24/7? Because they are not. Most are guarded by a couple of 19 year old MP's at a gate, with a handful elsewhere watching TV or writing speeding tickets for going 26 in a 25 zone.
This reminds me of one of my favorite memes that rings so true.

New Jersey has the highest population density of any state. That means lots of hobby drones and lots of neighbors to see them and talk about it. Same thing with airplanes.

Watch this video. It was on our local (Atlanta) news. Lots of drone footage. Except most of them look like airliners. Those Iranians are clever with their camouflage.

It's gotten out of hand. How hasnt someone from the media or government called out this lunacy.

Stop calling airplanes drones.
