Thing is...

A "pair of headphones" makes sense. Each individual cup on the headphone is a singular headphone.
There are 2 "pant" legs, so a "pair" of pants makes sense.

But is a single arm on that considered a "plier" on its own? If not, how is it a pair of pliers?

Same here. I use a 220V outlet in the barn, which means I can have the generator and its associated racket a fair distance from the house.

I have one of these, they certainly do "exist", even if I had to make it myself for exactly that reason. Haven't had to use it recently, but almost did this year though I caught myself early enough and only had to unstring one strand of lights.

It's probably hereditary, my dad definitely had one too when I was growing up.

(I used that quote for my high school yearbook quote - I looked for a suitable quote late the night before it was due...)
 
Please consider wisely this Christmas. Hundreds of these aircraft will be put up for adoption later and it’s always just sad.
