Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Why did the teacher show up or care?
It was his classroom and he was already there anyway.

Interesting character. Had a Phd in Chemistry specializing in catalysts. Had worked for an oil company until the pressure got to him (ulcers) so quit and taught HS Chem. (Not sure of his judgement on stress...but he seemed to enjoy it.)

Offered a one time deal to all his classes at the beginning of the year: everybody in all his classes could pay him $1,000 and he'd give us all As. But it had to be everybody... which, of course, never happened. But he knew a lot of chemistry and was an excellent teacher.

Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow.
And never do tomorrow what you can put off indefinitely.

I had a philosophy professor who offered A's for a bottle of Scotch. Dunno if anybody tried to take him up on it, though I doubt he was serious. He too was a good prof, even if he was a socialist. He wanted people to argue with him, so I wrote a paper on Ayn Rand... he gave me an A.

What kind of Scotch did you give him?

:)

And how many years had he worked in the private sector before becoming a professor? (I’m picturing Rodney dangerfield in a college classroom for those old enough to remember that movie).

Not a day in POA goes by where I don't think of the line, "Well...I didn't know you wanted to get involved, Mister Helper."

Nauga,
who SAYS IT

He'd be fired on the spot today for saying that, even as a joke.
Hah... I had a math teacher in high school that used to make the same deal with his classes the first day of every semester: The two guaranteed ways to get an A were to find him a new job that didn't require any additional school and paid $50,000/year - He'd stay to the end of the semester, give you your A, and be gone - Or to murder his dad. :o

He was actually a really good teacher, though.

Remembering I went to a private military boarding school in the 70s, I had a teacher that would take some of us boys to do work on his property.

To reward us for our hard work he would fire up the grill and make some awesome hamburgers. Under the table was a cooler, full of beer.

Only rule was we had to stay in the fenced in area of the backyard and cover the beverages with a napkin.

Can you imagine that happening these days.??
