Daily Pic

Visiting parents in CA. Wife and I up at 4 am PDT which is 6 am for us. Knew parents and kids won't be up till 8 am PDT. To my surprise the weather was skc and perfect. Breakfast? Yasss. Let's gooooooo

Flew over KAPV to see the airplane graveyard. My 1st high elevation landing (3100 msl).
Perfect day and road calories don't count
It did get a bit exciting and sporty when out of nowhere traffic popped up head on at my altitude and center yelling traffic 12 o'clock less than a mile converging I suggest you climb 500 ft immediately. That was close. Passed me by 200-300 ft at probably 1/4 mile.

Breakfast flight to F70 then a stop at KPSP.

The marine layer in SoCal is just crazy and unpredictable. Clear skies but the mist is just above the ground morning and evenings.

What a fantastic week of flying it has been.
Checked off a major bucket list item. Holding short of 19R at Vegas was a surreal moment for me. All the big boys and then there was us the little guy. Got a couple of thumbs up from the jets. Then breakfast at Apple Valley to wrap it up before heading home to WHP.

Evening cruise. Went west over Iowa border, then VOR-A practice approach into KSFY right on the Mississippi river.

Shortly after takeoff from Tri-Township (MS river).

I am embarrassed to admit that I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. I have been trying but can't figure it out.
 
First solo trip IFR since passing my instrument checkride. Dest airport was calling 500 ovc and 7sm flew the ILS it was an amazing feeling to do that by myself for the first time. The last few hours my cfii was just along for the ride, but it’s definitely a different experience knowing he’s not sitting there.

For me, it was never ceilings so much as visibility underneath. You will find the airport if you can see ;)

500 ft OVC? You are brave man being fresh out of school.

My personal mins are 800-3 which the ATIS was calling 800-7 before I departed it was a short trip so I called on the ground to get a little insight by the time I was airborne it had changed to 500-7. I figured I'll shoot the ILS if its not going to work out I'll go missed and back to my departure field that was 1100-9 which I was coming back to anyway.
