I was just going to check if there are absurd fees at an airport I'm considering as a fuel stop this weekend, and unfortunately the rampfee.me website says it "has been closed to public access. Does anyone know if there's a non-public subscription available, or an alternative source of information on FBO fees without calling individual FBOs to ask and try to sort out their answers?

If you look up an airport, scroll down the FBO, and click the FBO there is often info on fees on the FBO page but I'm not sure how current any of it is.

Other than KDEN, Aspen & Vail, I don’t know any other airports in Colorado with ramp fees.

Have you looked at the airport/FBO website? After checking my EFB, that’s the first place I check. Second is an email to the FBO.

If the airport is using Vector for monitoring and collection, indications are there will be a full fee disclosure page on the facility website. I mentioned seeing several in the Vector thread and someone else mentioned Vector requires it.

I always check those sites first, but sometimes their info is out-dated or missing and I would check with Rampfee.me and would often find more complete information.

That’s why I usually send an email.
Agreed. I almost always send an email even if the information is on the web site. Producing that email has resolved several conflicts for me in the past.
But email takes time and when I am planning a trip it is easier to check an additional website than it is for me to wait for a potential reply.

Agreed. It’s easy enough with major FBOs like Signature or Atlantic. But especially with the increases in airports and fees, it would be great to have a site like that or included in EFB airport information. Monitoring that stuff can’t be easy, even compared to monitoring fuel prices.

Rampfee.me seemed to crowdsource the information, which led to some inconsistencies about what type of fee was actually charged and the planes it applied to. I always took it with a grain of salt, but found it very helpful in avoiding the more punitive fees out there.

AOPA seems to be having pretty decent and reliable information. And reading the reviews on airnav.com always helps.

There are pilots - I know a few of them - who will tell you an airport charges a landing fee, when what it actually is, is a ramp fee.

It's bogus. I just checked GYY for Gary Jet and it completely omits the $50 handling fee (applies midday not just after hours).

Forefight has a section on fees, and if you don’t trust the info, there are two buttons, one to call the fbo, one to email them.

Be sure to ask about “Total Fees, ramp fees, handling fees, tie-down fees, landing fee, handling fees, airport fee, security fee, -please give me the out-the-door total for my airplane”

Calling seems the most reliable. You can ask about ramp fees, hangar fees, local fees, landing fees, etc. I just say "hey, bringing my spam cam to your field for xx hours or yy days. What's the total charge with and without your fuel minimum?" Plus or minus a hangar, etc. These numbers change all the time, and some can be negotiated, so not surprised a list is soon obsolete.

maybe we need some form of technology that allows us to communicate with people. or, maybe we need one of these:

That's a very reasonable HNB fee, btw. Where is that? Maybe I'll go there once I get my low wing fixed.

Edit...I'll call first...

Not trying to volunteer @Mahneuvers for it, but can we add that feature to https://flightsforbites.com/ ?
Not out of the question. One design flaw of FFB is information is potentially duplicated when there's >1 restaurant associated to an airport. I've toyed with the idea of storing some data at the airport level. I've had multiple requests for a graphical depiction of results. That will probably come first if I ever get the time.

it's by design children, sorry santa isn't real. *cue you're a mean one, mr. grinch* :stirpot:

This. There's plenty of ways to try to find out (EFBs, web sites, etc) but at the end of the day, I'd say if they're 60% accurate they're doing well. Only contacting the place in question is going to get you a mostly-reliable answer.

Alamosa, CO has ramp fees

So many pilots have foreflight, but seems no one likes updating airport info in the comments section. Fees, runway and taxiway conditions, whether or not tie downs are available, etc. If you go in foreflight and so many airports comments are years old.
