Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

FYI- Pink Floyd Guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason are pilots. At one point, I think Mason flew around in a Hughes 500 helicopter
Correction: he has a Eurocopter ES350

Meanwhile there were other bands that could do copious amounts of drugs and, rather than making incoherent nonsense, actually made masterpieces. Like Pink Floyd!
I was at my in-laws' the other day and my almost-2-year-old was not eating meat. He wanted raisins. MIL said "you can't have any raisins unless you eat some meat."

All I could think of was "If ya dohn't eat yer meat, ya cahn't have any puddin'! How cahn ya have any puddin' if ya dohn't eat yer meat?" So I played that in the car on the way home.

What have we here, laddie? Mysterious scribblings? A secret code? No! Poems, no less! Poems, everybody!
The laddie reckons himself a poet!

"Money, get back
I'm alright, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team"

Absolute rubbish, laddie.
Get on with your work! ! Repeat after me : An acre is the area of a rectangle whose length is one furlong and whose width is one chain.

You better run all day, and run all night
and keep your dirty feelings deep inside
if you're taking your girlfriend out tonight
you'd better park the car well out of sight
cuz if they catch you in the back seat tryin' to pick her locks
they're gonna send you back to mother in a cardboard box
you better run!

Haven't listened to that one in a LONG time - I'm more of a Dark Side of the Moon guy than a Wall guy, but listening to a bit of The Wall the other day brought back a lot of memories. I had a friend group that analyzed the heck out of it in high school; this part of the video has a very Kristallnacht vibe to it.

"Eugene....careful with that axe!!!"

"We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
going over the same old ground, what have we found?
the same old fears, wish you were here"

"And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in"

Many great albums...but "A Saucerful of Secrets"... I could never get behind.

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air

What do you get for pretending the danger's not real?
Meek and obedient, you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel

"Sheep" is a powerful song, and as relevant as ever.

Hey! not everything is going to be gold!
Now turn on some Comfortably Numb guitar solo to balance that out....
I like Ummagumma, but I acknowledge the inspiration. ;)
I do *not* like much of anything to do with The Wall, OTOH.

Nauga,
and his saucer full of Sucrets (thanks, MOAM)

I like the first comment for this video:

“You may be cool. But you’ll never be David Gilmour wearing Ray Bans, playing Run Like Hell in Pompeii cool.

I heard this playing a couple months ago and something sounded different.

I had to look it up. Turns out it was a “lost recording”. Stephan Grappelli, a jazz violinist, was hanging around in the studio and started playing along. The tapes were rolling. They were rediscovered many years later.
