There is some confusion as to who will own the aircraft or even where the first flight will be. Talk of shipping it somewhere else for first flight. 15 million plus warbird when they're done.

I have a hard time with the $15M part. I don't know who's gonna pay that for any warbird, much less a type that had such a limited combat record.
But it only takes one buyer to make it happen, so...
I flew down about a year and a half ago to see the XP-82 restoration in Douglas. I'm pretty sure Tom said the airplane was owned by a group of investors, not a single person.
Douglas would seem to be a fine location for a first flight. A long runway and a clear approach without a lot to hit.

FWIW, no one wants to admit it, but I have a very strong feeling that the CAF’s reputation at the time had everything to do with the USAF taking that aircraft back.cool, hopefully the USAF doesn't steal these...
Looks like the perfect cross country airplane for a couple...to preserve their marriage.
Next best thing to separate airplane's.
The 6 in the middle sure, but the pod to boot!

Yeah been meaning to fly over there for a look. Might still.
But you won’t fly to meet us for lunch? Maybe we’ll all fly down there. There is a restaurant right down the street
