The truth about Danny Smith aka dannytheaviator

OK so since this is a somewhat judgement free forum to post about our thoughts in aviation, I have to mention that I have a role model. Many of you have not heard of him I'm sure, but his name is Daniel Smith, who aparently goes by Danny. This guy lives in Southern Utah, and has a lot of history here for his young age. I am currently an airplane spotter so I happen to be aware of the majority of air traffic that comes through our beautiful state of Utah. There are plenty of pilots and everyone has their own talents and abilities, but I only feel proper if I can express on here to you other pilots what he means to me. I have followed every single thing he has done in aviation that has been posted to his aviation Instagram. Many Many hours have I shown up at the airport and watched him doing his slip to landing maneuvers, and over all flight skills.

When I see his posts or see him in real life flying, it's the same. I feel a large dose of excitement and feel I am watching a true professional. He is not your average young pilot. From what they have told me around the aviation culture down south Utah he was trained by his father who was the greatest examiner for the FAA and was a master talent in aviation. His father did everything you can ever imagine and was basically the main man of aviation

I feel strongly to say I see talent with young Danny that I haven't seen with anyone before. This guy has his heart in the game. I know he flys for fun and owns his airplanes so he no longer rents according to the FBO. All I have to say is If anyone will ever be considered my role model, it is him. I am comfortable saying this and mentioning him but hopefully someday I can meet him but until then I will be his #1 fan.

He truly does have the talent. The natural born talent that everyone in aviation hopes for but rarely attains. May this man be safe in his flying, and may he fulfill his potential. Aviation needs someone like this and I will keep snapping images of his flying as I see it. My heritage in aviation is deep as my father served in the navy but in the aeronautical devision. May we honor our vetrans
 
I wonder if PM or Jerry feels this place is a somewhat judgement free zone.

Everyone has skeletons in the closet. You can bet Danny has had his share of bad landings. Won’t be long before YouTube exposes his weaknesses as an imperfect aviator.

You misspelled ‘devision’. But not judging. Spell it any way you want.
 
I heard Danny Smith throws the fuel sample out on the ramp when he's done with it...................

Also heard he uses "Any traffic in the pattern please advise" often...........

Danny Smith is indeed in the phone book. He is a real person.
 
Guess I'm lucky to have had his father as my DPE on my PPL check ride! And to have ran into him at the Costco gas station talking about our Corvettes!
 
Since we’re on the topic of role models, I know this one guy named Ryan, who happens to be a pretty decent stick. He’s also tall and handsome. Oh, hey! That guy is me!
 
I have it on full authority that Danny Smith flies to secondary minimums, does -2000 FPM descents at 60 degree bank angles after going full-scale deflection vertical and lateral and has been known to disregard sterile cockpit discipline during critical phases of flight....

Honestly, it's the rando non-sequiturs that keep me coming back to POA. Well, that and the equal opportunity hater quality of the joint. I much prefer that to the rabid nativism of type-specific forums. :D
 
I did some research because this Danny Smith sounded too good to be true. Turns out he didn’t always go by the name of Danny Smith. He changed it a few years back. His given name was Bill Brasky and his stories are legendary.
