The testing center has accused me of cheating on my IR written.

But we know the cops do.
I let the cops do their own investigation. If I see something in real life that looks suspicious, I'll let them know. Social media is strange enough and has enough BS posted that it should be taken with salt, like the post that started this discussion.

Now I’m off to go have Biggis’ friend “S***posting Bob” who has a much older account and a German IP address... post some complaints about the testing facility a couple months ago. [...]

Maybe confusing enough to tell utter morons to bot take ANY action on ANYTHING posted on a g-d social media website.
And with that another perfectly good irony meter is trashed.

Nauga,
and the inevitable "but this is DIFFERENT"

Didn’t know they had an edit function, but it doesn’t change the fact that reporting anything whatsoever from the internet to anybody is retarded.

Faking damn near anything is ridiculously easy and untraceable when done right. And not difficult. All this new information does is confirm that underlying concept the dip-**** at AF doesn’t understand, even stronger.

I saw some guy post the joke that he wants to gain peace by holding someone underwater in a nice quiet stream in the woods for the hundredth time the other day. I should report it to his local police “in an abundance of caution”, of course.

Well anyway. At least it tells us how ****ing dumb the AF employee is, probably a beginning of a case for understanding their hiring practices. Hire a dumbass for the wrong job — cause customers major problems.

Nothing new there in aviation or any other business.

“Let’s put a CFI without a clue in charge of the website and social media! That’ll work out grrrrreat.... Plus we are way too broke to hire professionals.”

...and yet here you are posting innuendo about taking action based on someone's easily faked social media posts, and in the same post referring to people who take "ANY action based on ANYTHING posted" on a social media site as "morons."

Nauga,
whose shoes fit

My “action” is limited to commentary on the same fake internet as the stories come from. Not triggering government regulator investigations and forcing innocent people to lose time to travel to a building full of bureaucrats to answer up for their online jokes.

It’s also not my JOB to do it. I’m here for entertainment by a bunch of people (allegedly - unproven) hiding behind pseudonyms writing whatever they feel like writing.

Of course it’s not really AF’s JOB to report anything they saw on the internet to anyone anywhere either, but they added it to their job description apparently.

Quite a significant difference.

Try finding a FSDO phone number or anybody who’ll call it over an internet post at a non-flight-school PSI facility. There’s the litmus test.

Flight schools probably have a built in motivation to keep their noses a deep shade of brown with PSI’s customer, who they shouldn’t be contacting at all without permission from PSI corporate... in most business chains of command.

The question is, did PSI corporate authorize harassment of customers over internet posts? Would be fun to ask their PR pro and watch them squirm out an answer that coddles both the franchisee and the upstream customer, while throwing the downstream customer under the bus.

I think that's aimed at people who use Facebook as a storefront so they can time/manage their postings blog-style.

I don't think it would have helped our criminal mastermind. If I understand that right, the testing center couldn't use it to change OP's post to be "during test center hours" either, although that would've been crafty of them to change his post THEN call FSDO as an excellent counter-trolling action. :D

as a test, I posted message on my own fb page and then changed its time. Worked. In any case, it’s trivial to manipulate time zone of your post

Strange feature but I sorta get it.

Are you able to change the dt on a post you make on someone else's page?

Haven’t tried, but I’m pretty sure you can’t

Truth hurts. Oh well.

It’s definitely retarded to call a FSDO over a post on social media that clearly is a joke.

Some people are just retarded. It’s okay.

We work supporting their lack of brain cells in IT all the time.

You should see what nurses put up with. :)

“I am a social media specialist! Derp! I called the FSDO over a joke.”- Retarded CFI at Flight School too cheap to hire professionals but wanted a “web presence”.

I found a photo on the Internet of the AF staffer. Must be true!

Hahahahahaha!

Called it.

Nauga,
who knows it doesn't take a visionary

Show me on the doll where I touched the FSDO’s anus because of a joke on social media. LOL.

This is entertaining which is why I’m here.

I’m going to need a minute and a half. BRB.

This thread has been...... interesting.

We do our best. :)

You can see an age breakpoint where “Ok Boomer!” applies, for sure.

Anyone Gen X or younger is like...

“I’ve seen so much worse on the internet. It’s completely meaningless and fake.”

Make that an IT Gen X or younger and it’s, “You know I’ve been involved in watching the hardest core ‘rules’ boss at a company be escorted to the door for his porn collection on his laptop, right? That effer was one twisted f***...”

The old farts are like...

“OMG! Someone said something naughty on the Internet!”

LOL.

Anyone Millennial or younger has three accounts just for s***-posting. On every social media site they’re on. Haha.

I suspect there’s at least one person here who left here under one pseudonym and came back quite a while later under another one, judging by content and writing style, too.

Don’t care at all... but I know admins here DO track IP addresses. Like most social media sites.

Good s***-posters know how to get around that, too.

“I’m just here for the LOLs...” pretty adequately describes my internet usage since I had to Telnet to a mainframe to get on it.

It’s pretty easy to make someone’s life a living hell with a bit of online manipulation when idiots actually react to it. Why bother reporting jokes? Way better to just go post direct accusations of cheating from untraceable accounts, if a social media post is all it takes to freak out Boomers.

Which, before this thread I had forgotten. It is all it takes.

I’m betting their porn collection on their home machine is really creepy and borderline illegal too. LOL. As long as they keep it off my company machines and networks, I won’t be asked to document another big “rules” guy’s reason for being fired...

Nothing like being the IT guy to know how sick y’all are. I see the domain names in the DNS server cache... and saw them at a large ISP you hypocrites. :)

All my glass walls shattered years ago. Fire away. Haha.

It has nothing to do with social media other than that made it public record.

I cut the tag off my mattress.

Public record.

Call whoever cares about that one.

:)

C’mon @Salty - you’re slackin’ here. Hurry.

It takes the Sheriff half an hour to get to my house. I might partake in another fake crime on the internet before he gets here!

Stop me! Think of the children!

Should I admit here on the internet that I killed Epstein?

Oops. Crap. Definitely going to be investigated now!!!

If you stop acting like an arse and at least attempt you can see another side, I might engage with you. As it is, you can keep braying.

Yeah, good luck with that. A private entity found something that could deemed as suspicious and put the account on hold pending investigation per their policy. Per their policy any upcoming appointments were cancelled. Expect the customer in question did not have any up coming appointments and therefore suffered no loss other than having to talk to the FSDO again due ultimately to his own actions. If you can find a lawyer who even give you the time of day on a case like this I'll eat a bug.

Sorta like trying to go after a LE agency that submits someone's name to the federal watch list.

Bryan is a bigger man than me and most of y’all to post stuff here. And then to have all these opinions fly around here, without whining and acting like a b***h after the fact. Kudos man.

If what Bryan says is true, I’d say the testing center owner should go to jail for making false accusations of FAR violation.

does that make me a young guy or an old guy? ;)
Depends whether or not you also tell him to get off your lawn, I think.

I've read all three pages. I don't see the humor, but I'm just an old guy.

1) Truth is a complete defense to defamation. Motives don't matter.
2) OP admits in his post about his written expiring that he does stupid thing.
3) Is someone who is self destructive and incapable of thinking his actions might have consequences a pilot you want to share the sky with?

OP will get away with this, not because his post was only a "joke" but because it appears in the end he did nothing wrong with regard to the exam.
If I was running the exam location I would sue him for defamation and let a judge or jury (I'd go bench trial everyone knows judges have no sense of humor) decide if a post that states the school permits cheating is defamation.

Lastly: Y'all know this board is not private - don't you?

Lighten up Francis

I see the other side. The solution to the fake problem they perceived was provided on my first post for them. “Delete comment”.

Ahh good. So the investigation into cheating will be closed with no record of it ever happening then... since he didn’t cheat.

Suuuuure it will. LOL.

The camera will show it’s the testing facility that defamed a customer. But Bryan-y will get another record in a spiffy database.

Anybody dialing a FSDO who works for a flight school knows that’s the result of any complaint action.

Unless they’re even dumber than I already think they are.

True, but I wasn’t responding to that comment.

Yep. That was a classic. If you look at some of the covers you could never do them today. That would probably be one of them. You'd get lots of false outrage on social media even though it's obviously a joke.

You can do these things I think. People are just too scared of keyboard warriors saying stuff. 9/10 times it's just a big twitter/facespace/etc dustup that amounts to nothing and is forgotten as soon as the next thing comes along. If we all just ignore them all their power would go away.

Exactly. But it appears most can't handle the pressure. They usually cave.
