I was just looking at the sectional near kansas city and saw this. Thought it was a fun name for the 533' grass field! Shortest I've ever seen, I think.

My first mil replaced her k car transmission 3 times!!! Two or possibly all three under warranty

She never got it over 50 so maybe that’s why it kept breaking

Some airports have a preference (well, the neighbors have a preference) so I’d cut the guy some slack

When you sign up for the discount card (in many places) you enter your phone #. So yes, unfortunately they are technically tracking my purchases and have my phone #.

Even worse, when I go to the liquor store they scan my drivers license now.

Ah yeah. I also had K Car transmission woes. Lost my reverse gear. I also had the cam shaft lobes wear off, carb came loose, ………….
 
Yeah… K cars were, well, something pretty special. I had a rented one for a couple days, and it convinced me that my avoidance of anything Chrysler made (which started with an Army owned Dodge truck and was cemented after test driving a slightly used Cordoba) was entirely justified. I mean, pretty much any car of that era was of poor quality but Chrysler took it seriously.
 
Did I also mention my outside door handle fell off? Oh …. The fuel pump died as well. How could I forget that. It had a radio - AM only.
 
Due to an absolutely **** ear infection I was grounded for a couple weeks. No idea where it came from but it was painful. Even slight pressure changes from elevation when driving in flat ol' Illinois could be a little painful.

Went up for a sunset/night cruise tonight and man it felt good. Amazing even. The ear pressure was a little rough on descent, but manageable. What wouldn't have been manageable was staying on the ground 1 more day during probably the longest stretch of great weather I've ever seen in my life for our area.

I was sort of t-boned by a K-car in the mid 80's, driving a 78 Blazer. I say "sort of" because he hit my left rear wheel and tire. To its credit, it did spin the Blazer around 180 degrees. To the Blazer's credit, no damage except the quarter panel in front of the wheel was bent in about 20 degrees. Totaled the K-car, wheels pointed in different directions after the impact.

Giving me ideas about the neighbors alfalfa field again. Would have about 1,000' 18/36 with a 50' obstacle at the north end. And a 750' 9/27.

Too cool. IH experimented with turbines in the sixties. They bought a turbine company and tried putting them in trucks & tractors. Of course they proved to be too thirsty in both applications.

Having grown up in a small farm town in Southern Illinois, I’ve seen first hand tractor pull contests that involved a turbine powered tractor.

The strongest memory I have of it was the noise.
 
well, I finally got few up with calls with a generic caller id (e.g., smalltown, state) without any message being left. Turned on the straight-to-answering machine and the telemarketers can go suck an egg.

Those worthless telemarketers (yes, I know that is redundant) pick random number so I can't just block a number...

This time of year I figure most of those oxygen-thieves are political calls, but geez today it was ringing every 15 minutes...

It's bad. Some times it's worse than others - one day I kept getting calls every few minutes so I opened up a ticket with Verizon, and they were predictably unhelpful. They said I can block numbers, which of course is useless if these bots use random phone numbers each time. Then they tried to sell me some enhanced call screening. I came away from that interaction believing that it's in their interest for customers to get spam calls so they can sell this screening subscription.

We've had a group of two families with 3 kids, and a group of approx 10 high schoolers. But its 40G85 here today so I'm assuming it's a more chill Halloween than normal.

It is crazy winds, but that never stopped my brothers and I when we were younger. I remember going out in freezing rain even!
By god I was going to get that candy, binge on it the entire night, and subject myself to the very real possibility of early onset diabetes, rain or shine.
 
I'm chauffering my crew around this evening. Not too bad here.

For those not aware. Malort is a Chicago area alcohol used to unfriend someone in person. A truly foul drink. They use the same process as vodka. Except instead of potatoes they must use tires.
