maybe because I'm up here in the north, but I don't think I've seen a PA-28 that still had A/C installed.

Everybody has their own thing, but I'd never take out the analog airspeed, altimeter, or turn coordinator.
 
So…..
Vacationing out of country. In Budapest today. They don’t use the Euro, but a currency that is 349 “Forint” to one dollar. Cost for cup of coffee looks like a zip code. Wife buys a $15 souvenir yesterday.

And……. It appears she was off by a decimal place. Eh - laugh it off. It’s not like I’ve never done “surprise” spending with the airplane. We’ll have a great story now when we look at that thing she bought. (Still not exactly sure what it is LOL)
 
It's not a 6' x 2' x 1' wooden box with a "do not open in sunlight" label, is it? Because if it is, make sure not to travel back on the same boat with it. I read that story and it didn't end well.
 
Sometimes you do get lucky. I updated my panel, added a GTN 650xi, couple of G275s and a GFC 500 back in April. My data plan expired last week, and I went to update it and for some reason I now have a free database subscription until end of June 2026. Didn't pay for it. I called Garmin, and the nice person on the phone wasn't sure why I got an entire year, but he said he'd honor it/not going away, no I wouldn't be charged, and just use it. Maybe it was a promotion when I bought the equipment? I also got a $1000 rebate check in the mail last month from Garmin.

Sometimes you just get a break.
 
Microsoft (PowerPoint) is "helping" me. Again.
I didn't ask it to "help", I asked it to do what I asked (turn the laptop camera on for the one slide only - that is an actual option "this slide" vs. "all slides").
It decided that I wanted it on for all the slides.
Why? Just why?

Microsoft seems to be starting with the infuriating practice of giving us two choices with their ad popups (even in Windows, like badgering us to use OneDrive, for example) - 'Yes' or 'Ask Me Again Later'.

Recently upgraded one of the computers and it's getting tougher to put Microsquat on ignore ...

Mine keeps reactivating Copilot with each update and it's making me want to chuck the computer out the window. I must have disabled it on both my computers 15x now.

At least it's not an iPhone. "Are you enjoying Clock?" Um...I was, right until you started asking me to review the default Clock app. And then there's YouTube on the web, which has (checks) not broken its record of 3 seconds for remembering my setting of not showing video previews in Home and Search (which wastes battery and pollutes my watching history).

This is the main reason I am glad avionics go through rigorous testing and certification. Can you imagine if Apple or Microsoft were able to push updates to your panel?

Right when you go missed on a challenging approach below minimums in hurricane-force winds: "Are you enjoying Magenta Line? Please leave a review. You can return to your primary flight instruments after answering a few hundred easy questions. But first, please complete this captcha by selecting all images of monocots."

Or every time you change to green needles for an ILS, it randomly changes back to magenta needles, North up, the VFR sectional displayed, and a ground pointer instead of sky pointer why not.

FWIW, Android apps do the same thing. Just now I had to install an airline app for a flight tomorrow and within the first 5 minutes it asked me to rate+review it.
