I didn't know who she was until I saw a few posts here on POA about her and I have been following any new information ever since. I'm interested in this part of American History.

They are saying she survived a plane crash but died on one of the islands in the Pacific. They have proof of her distressed radio calls.
 
Every time the TIGHAR project (the people who are hunting for proof) runs short of money they release a new press release on how they've found some new conclusive evidence that attests to her landing on some island somewhere. Invariably, these never pan out, but they have an nice little cottage industry preying on the gullible history buffs.
 
She's working at the NBC affiliate and has a condo in Denver...oh, you mean the original one? Sorry, can't help.
 
I think it's just another DB Cooper mystery. If it isn't solved yet, chances are it never will.

Yeah, I'm serious. I never heard of her until I started with an interest in flying just a few years ago, Didn't learn about her in High school. Too drunk in College to remember anything..lol
 
TIHGAR.... don't they use some basic information and announce it as newly discovered evidence just fund their vacations to the south Pacific?

I don't watch Reality T.V. at all. Actually I don't watch T.V. much either, Books and Internet is pretty much where I play. To be honest a lot of American History we learned in school were lies until I found out otherwise.

Hmmmm... I didn't know Hitlery was a reality tv star. She makes speeches, so I guess she is....;)

Admittedly enough I didn't have the best education in the world starting out but could we stop with the political baiting already?
 
Having worked with quite a few younger people over the past few years, I can understand or at least believe you not knowing about her. The lack of history knowledge by many folks these days is stunning.

Truth.

Tighar was founded in 1985. Over 30 years ago. To date, they have found and/or recovered exactly...... Zero...... historic aircraft. With all of the aircraft and artifacts out there to be found, they are 0 fer 31 years. I take this as a sign that they are not interested in finding or recovering aircraft, only in finding and recovering OPM.

The organization has successfully raised OPM, bringing in millions of dollars for what have turned out to be wild goose chases, all while paying a handsome salary to the founder and his wife.

The founder and his wife, strangely, are the only two people in the organization that are paid a salary.

Nothing strange about it. I can name many people who have done exactly the same thing. Flying car developers. Leaders of "prosperity" churches. Televangelists. Civil rights leaders. And plenty of others.

Finding suckers to send you money is an age old profession.

Politicians took it to the next level though. Made people go to jail if they didn't send them their lunch money.

What does the education system have to do with the election of a president? You mean the same system that has millions of "graduates" believing that a national numerical majority should determine the winner? You mean the same system that teaches that Socialism is in line with the US Constitution?
 
It is sad that an aviator doesn't know the name earhart. You have heard of Wilbur and Orville ? How about Lindbergh or Yeager?

Not meaning to give you a hard time, it's just shocking to me.

I read a lot about her when I was a kid, and have her picture on my "Cool Pilots Wall". But I'm pretty sure she's dead, and not at all sure how finding her aircraft would be too significant. Not like finding a 2,000 year old ship, with all those great clues about how they really lived.

She was a significant aviator, she dared greatly, lost her life, inspired a lot of folks. Finding an old cowling or a few buttons? It wasn't THAT long ago, the airplane wasn't a particularly important, or "one-off", model, and I don't think there was anything on board, other than herself and Mr. Noonan, that we don't have other examples of.

I think it'd be interesting if it turned up, excite mystery lovers, but not all that important, historically. . .

Or perhaps schools use it to hide what REALLY happened in American history. The winners write the history books!

Sorry to pop your bubble that you are in, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who didn't, just afraid to admit it. If you have to ask yes, I'm familiar with the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh and Chuck Yeager. The history I learned growing up didn't speak of many women in history. That is why I just recently studied her. Love the internet!!
