Curious, on a scale of 1 (BAD) to 100 (GOOD) for ADM, where does taking a lear jet through a cat4 hurricane go? Honestly don't know.

I've heard/met some of the Hurricane Hunters who I think fly C130s through 'em. But idk, how does a lear stack up versus a hurricane.

We took an E-3 from east to west thru the outer and middle bands of Katrina way back when; pretty sure it was the north side of the storm.

We were probably at FL280 -320; a little bumpy was all I remember.

So this guy was at 12k. I take it gets better with altitude?

Looking at Flight Aware, it appears he filed FL410 from DWH to ORL and was at 410 until about 20ms out. He later filed ORL to SRQ at 12K for what looks like a repo leg launching in a few mins.

The flight was FL410 most of the route, then popped up to FL450 in the central area of the storm; I’m guessing it was over the top and out of harm’s way.

That’s not something I would try, but then again I don’t have a Lear 60.

[As an aside, is that altitude pop-up real, or could it be an artifact of the very low pressure area?]

Probably real. Just climbing to go over the top.

Flying over the top of these storms is no big deal.

I’ve topped some pretty serious weather in a Lear. No idea how high a hurricane goes up to, but 45k will clear you above 90% of CBs

Topped multiple midwest tornadoes at 410, didn't see a thing - if that counts for anything. Was hoping for no mechanical problems for about 30 minutes.

and for the uninitiated who aren't tracking, the real hazard to topping weather isn't the high altitude, it's the single engine drift down back to the "you should be nice to the people you pass on the way up, for you'll be meeting them again on the way down...." altitudes. :D

Remember bois, contrary to normie meritocratic opinion, life is in the end all about timing and luck.

or as a certain potus suggested.. "...how bout we nuke it?"

The sixth mass extinction will be anthropogenic, I'll take that bet 10/10.
