From the Vet Thread: Do not commit murder

And therin lies the problem: they weren't raised that way. See what happens when we can't spank kids any more?

...(since most vegetarians / vegans I know weren't raised that way) and also makes them more easily integrated into the entire meal when eating in "mixed" company.

My oh my, are you implying they were "born that way?" Are you sure you're not mixing arguments?

I can't wait for the deluge of legislation to protect "food choice." <- Sounds better than 'anti-carnivore,' doesn't it?

Not sure what you're talking about. Just pointing out that the majority of people currently vegetarian or vegan (in the United States, at least) were not raised as such. I think that's a plain fact, not an "argument" for anything.

Anybody who is a vegetarian for moral reasons should read: "The hidden life of trees".

Once you learn that trees communicate with each other using electrical impulses, support their children, exchange nutrients, care for the ill, and have a complex social structure that rival a lot of animals, you can't really make a moral argument for eating vegetation either.

So, unless you want to be a martyr, you may as well accept your position in the food chain.

The Hidden Life is the fanciful imagination of the author. He has actually no rationale for what he espouses other than misdescribing a few scientific studies. It's about as scientific as reading Harry Potter.

Harry wasn't a real wizard???
