Yeah, and no cheap/direct flights to the area when I need to come back. There's an allegiant flight into TYS, but gotta start at MDW or connect through SFB. Then gotta get to GKT somehow.Damn, Ed, such luck.
We've got that part solved! Then gotta get to GKT somehow.
I live 5 min from TYS, you got a ride if its a day i'm home.Yeah, and no cheap/direct flights to the area when I need to come back. There's an allegiant flight into TYS, but gotta start at MDW or connect through SFB. Then gotta get to GKT somehow.
That's what your friendly PoA comrades are for! Not the fastest mode of transport, but if you could use a lift from GRR to GKT in an arrow, I'm happy to help get ya back to the Comanche. Always looking for new places to fly and I'm in the KAZO area pretty much every week with the arrow.Yeah, and no cheap/direct flights to the area when I need to come back. “who would use a hangar door as an engine hoist?”
Then what?
Unfortunately @ArrowFlyer86 wasn't able to get me down there. By the time the mag finally got fixed (they did it under warranty) and sent back and put back on, he said "**** you I've waited too long, you're on your own." Kidding! He had other obligations and was unable to help me out this weekend. Then a little tale about stepping back and looking at the big picture...I don't know anyone involved well enough to say this, but it's the Internet so I will anyway. Nice job on the lift! That's the kind of ingenuity that got you guys up San Juan hill even though the Spanish had better rifles.
You picked the one time my "Airlines de Arrow" was out of service! But glad you got the plane back and didn't have to go broke doing it!Unfortunately @ArrowFlyer86 wasn't able to get me down there. The goal was to get into GKT. Closest air carrier airport in case AF86 couldn't help was Knoxville. Ryan and I had already talked on the phone before I even left the plane and said he'd run me from TYS to GKT if that's where I ended up. So I kept checking all the flights into Knoxville. Knoxville. Knoxville. Knoxville. And they weren't cheap. American, Delta, were both going to be about $500+ for a 1 way, even tried Allegiant by seeing about buying 2 tickets. This would have been the cheapest route, but an entire day to get there. Finally, after looking at a sectional chart, it occurs to me, Ryan is coming up from Chattanooga, why not just go in there? $238. Done. Hung out with Bill and caught up, crashed at his place, and Ryan got me up there Sunday morning.
