@EdFred spotted in the wild!

He does leave the pattern!!!

For those curious as to why it's nosed into the mx hangar, the magneto that was replaced from the trip from Hell decided to eat itself and we're driving back home to MI...again...tomorrow.

At least the Jetta we rented turned out to be a Mercedes SL450 for the 9ish hour drive.

Damn, Ed, such luck.
Yeah, and no cheap/direct flights to the area when I need to come back. There's an allegiant flight into TYS, but gotta start at MDW or connect through SFB. Then gotta get to GKT somehow.

I live 5 min from TYS, you got a ride if its a day i'm home.

Glad you clarified the activity in the picture…my first thought was, “who would use a hangar door as an engine hoist?”

That's what your friendly PoA comrades are for! Not the fastest mode of transport, but if you could use a lift from GRR to GKT in an arrow, I'm happy to help get ya back to the Comanche. Always looking for new places to fly and I'm in the KAZO area pretty much every week with the arrow.

Might/will take you up on that!

Brave to put the plane under the door like that. I didn’t see it happen, but my old club had a cable snap and the door come crashing down right in front of someone. Ugh.

Yeah. It' s a PITA. In 2019 we drove from Ft Smith to San Antonio, then to CHI, then back to Ft. Smith, in a Toyota Corolla, for a similar situation. Sigh.

My condolences....

I don't know anyone involved well enough to say this, but it's the Internet so I will anyway. Nice job on the lift! That's the kind of ingenuity that got you guys up San Juan hill even though the Spanish had better rifles.

Unfortunately @ArrowFlyer86 wasn't able to get me down there. By the time the mag finally got fixed (they did it under warranty) and sent back and put back on, he said "**** you I've waited too long, you're on your own." Kidding! He had other obligations and was unable to help me out this weekend. Then a little tale about stepping back and looking at the big picture...

The goal was to get into GKT. Closest air carrier airport in case AF86 couldn't help was Knoxville. Ryan and I had already talked on the phone before I even left the plane and said he'd run me from TYS to GKT if that's where I ended up. So I kept checking all the flights into Knoxville. Knoxville. Knoxville. Knoxville. And they weren't cheap. American, Delta, were both going to be about $500+ for a 1 way, even tried Allegiant by seeing about buying 2 tickets. This would have been the cheapest route, but an entire day to get there. Finally, after looking at a sectional chart, it occurs to me, Ryan is coming up from Chattanooga, why not just go in there? $238. Done. Hung out with Bill and caught up, crashed at his place, and Ryan got me up there Sunday morning.

You picked the one time my "Airlines de Arrow" was out of service! But glad you got the plane back and didn't have to go broke doing it!

Round round get around I get around....

We stopped in Carmi IL for fuel on the way back from Jonesboro and while I'm just about to fill up tank 4 of 4 I hear a voice calling out my name from the Cherokee that pulled up to the pumps behind us.

@crash7 was with a student and turns out it's a pretty small world.20240907_125206.jpg
