And whatever you do, do NOT waste your time at large brand-name resorts. We did have fun for a couple of days with touristy stuff like swimming with the dolphins and shopping local merchant malls in Nassau, but it was nice to get away from all the people and sit on beautiful secluded beaches. On our way home, we flew over the Sandals resort, and I was really glad we hadn't wasted any time or money in a place like that...

Island resorts are mostly for heavy drinking in swimwear close enough to a bed to walk/stumble to it. Not for seeing the local sights. LOL. ;)

Flew to Henderson NV yesterday to pick up four boxes of blood to bring back to Phoenix. It was smooth at 6500' northwestbound (staying low for reduced headwind) and at 9500' on the return. I had to bend the route around the southern perimeter of a couple of MOAs full of F-16s and F-35s. As late afternoon became evening the desert views were spectacular.

On straight-in for 35L at HND. The large, low building with black and white horizontal stripes to the left of the airport is the new HQ and practice facility of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Pilawt, you should make a big print of that first sunset shot for your living room. That's some purdy southwest scenery!
 
Another trip to Henderson NV yesterday. We didn’t have to be there for the pickup until 4pm AZ time, so we stopped at Lake Havasu City to meet up with friends for lunch.

Couldn’t have asked for a better trip. We went to Havasu at 4,500 and had only about a 5-knot headwind. On the way home we went up to 9,500 and had a 20+ knot tailwind. Smooth all the way, both directions.


A kaleidoscope of desert, 10 miles east of Parker AZ:




This place is called the Nellie E Saloon, on the site of an old mine about five miles up a winding dirt road from Parker. It’s only open on weekends between October and April, and bring cash - no credit cards accepted. It’s quite the local attraction. We have to investigate whether there is any ground transportation available from Parker. http://www.thedesertbar.com/




There’s an outfit at Havasu that sells sightseeing rides in flex-wing ultralights - “Hangin’ over Havasu”. Here’s one of them.
