Daily Pic

2019 around this time I was flying around the snow over the Grand Canyon, last week I did it over my own country. We had exceptional amounts of snow and low temps. A friend joined me and created a video, only the intro is in dutch ;-). The outside airport temperature was +- 19F / -7c, no clouds and crystal clear skies.

Orbit around the tower at Schiphol, Amsterdam... seal spotting over the north sea... stored KLM planes... and ofcourse, dutch ice skaters on nature ice. Enjoy!

nice vid!

Schiphol is one of those great facilities. Just lots of traffic. But pretty easy to get into and out of. But can be long taxi times.

And Texel island!

When I was backpacking across Europe in the 80’s, I rented a bicycle at the Texel ferry. The vendor was an older man who wore real wooden shoes. It was lovely in the summer, and now I know how it looks in the winter!

Thanks for posting that nice video.

Thursday flight over home town.
Berms from the closed Texaco refinery tank farm. Looking West from I-15.

The terrain and the tank-farm berms are an interesting combination. Under a layer of snow they look almost alike.

Warmed up just enough to do a few Stearman rides today. Great day to fly!View attachment 94192 View attachment 94193

Nice!

I always thought those nomex flight jackets were terrible for cold weather ops in unpressurized/unheated aircraft. My old leather G-1 at least worked as a wind-breaker. With long-johns and a flight deck jersey underneath, I wouldn't freeze to death anyway.

A friend of mine has 8 or 9 kids. They are all grown up now, but back then he called them his little tax deductions.....
Haha...it helps. The crazy thing is if they keep up these stimulus payments they're gonna pay for my airplane.

That one I was wearing is a newer version than the ones I was issued 20 years ago at UPT. I think these were redesigned in the last 6-7 years. It's also the winter weight one. Definitely much mo warmer than the old style. Still not as waterproof as they should be but you cant get everything you want...

^^^^^ that looks like one of the many arrivals at daybreak from the west after a redeye from the west coast.

Visited the USS Lexington today; it was awesome. We were afraid the kids would complain, but the climbing and maze-like compartments were fun for them, so we stayed all day.

Made it home from Corpus Christi today. 7.3 on the tach. My most serious IFR flight yet coming out of Texas this morning. Probably an hour of actual and a loggable approach at Sulphur Springs for lunch. Made a stop at Lambert's in Sikeston MO for dinner and landed at Champaign about 12 hours after we left the beach house.

11,000 over San Antonio

Hope for the future. My son has been playing with this since I have it to him yesterday. Most new toys hold about 5min of interest

Get him one of these, too. It is WRONG to force high-wingism or low-wingism on a child. He must be allowed to decide for himself!
