1st flight 2025?

I had planned a glider flight today.. it was low IFR at sunrise and is still IFR at the glider port. Sun just starting to show itself at mid-afternoon 45 miles north of the glider port.
I've got an Arrow scheduled for Friday.

Maybe in the next week or two. My plane is two states away for my first inspection as an owner. Prop reseal took a while, prop should get picked up later this week to be reinstalled.

i thought about and cancelled my flight in a 152 today (see Jim's post on winds today) at 8:29pt (actually it was more like 7ct. Also, our club apparently has a rule that the 152 doesn't fly below 32F due to the engine not being able to sustain warm enough oil. Green but a cold green. Oh well.

Serious question: Do Cessnas have cabin heat? I mean, I know they do, but the ****box I'm flying puts out as much heat as a beer fart. Below 40F, you might as well forget it unless you enjoy flying in a winter coat, gloves and stocking cap. I'm assuming some of them must have functional heat?

the one i fly does - and on occasion i have to turn it off when it gets too warm. the 172s it's more that there are more leaks, than crappy heaters I've found. but i understand the comment coming from pipers. the heat in the arrow i fly will melt the soles of my shoes.

I "might" get in my first flight tomorrow (the 2nd) - "if" the wind gets below 20 knots. ;)

I have flown several 172’s, own a 182 and 210. All have excellent heat to the front seats if the SCAT hose and shrouds are in reasonable condition. The trick is opening the cabin heat and the cabin air. If only the heat is opened, you will get very localized hot air near the pedals and the rest of the cabin will be cold. By also adjusting the cabin air knob to give a mixing flow and better circulation the cabin gets very comfortable even at freezing temperatures IME.

Interesting. Never would've thought to try that. Ours seems like heat only comes out behind the right side kick panel. It's hot, but there's very little airflow. I'll have to play with it more i guess.

Kansas winds were agreeable today, GP shows wheels off 2:26 CST.

My C172N kept me warm yesterday wearing a T-shirt and a fleece when the OAT was 15°F ...

That was a really little pt. I dunno know how to make the font smaller. But point taken. So howda ya make the font smaller for just a coupla letters next to bigger ones without a space in betwee?

you just highlight the text you want to, ahem, make bigger/smaller then click the font size icon and select the size u want:

the pen is mightier

Was planning on taking the day off and relaxing. Then started reading online how the job market is saturated and your 1500 hrs means nothing. I am at 1250. So, I picked myself up and got 2.5 hrs under me in my C150. haha

Neither did I until I saw the suggestion in a CPA thread. I then read about that procedure in the POH...pretty cool that Cessna monitors online forums and updated the manual.

I remember doing an xc, maybe 1.5 hrs each way, in a 172 on a very cold day. I was nice and warm from the knees up but my feet were completely numb from the cold.

Another time, in a different 172, I was doing a lesson with my CFII and we could see our breath. That 172 was a really beaten up trainer with a door that was twisted just enough that the weatherstrip didn’t always make a good seal.

As soon as the temps get high enough and the winds get low enough... ask again in March or April.

No flight for me still trying to find a replacement airplane looking for a nice150/152.

Did I miss an episode? Why are you flying a Cezzna?
