I got it done today. Short flight as a first test of a newly installed instrument (toy). A bit cool but the scenery was awesome with severe clear!

A couple years ago I decided to celebrate the new year while airborne. Took off half an hour before midnight, flew over the city and watched the fireworks. Landed about an hour later.
That should qualify me for two rounds of fake internet points, right?

Man, around here the last place I want to be midnight on New Years is in the air.

I'm still waiting for my first flight in 2025. The airport I'm based at doesn't have a precision approach, so I can get in with a lower ceiling scud running VFR than I can on IFR and it still hasn't been good enough to fly. Winter in the PNW is pretty dismal weather-wise. These were the conditions for my last flight in 2024...Again, scud running VFR. Staying away from the foothills of the Cascade Mountains provided ample clearance between the clouds and ground and good horizontal visibility. I could see the base of Mount Rainier, almost 100 miles away. 1,500' feet above me were icing conditions.

I'll attempt to say it in a way that doesn't get this thread locked: clueless idiots that lack the IQ and knowledge required for the operation of a piece of deadly equipment. I'm sure the concept of "what goes up must come down" is foreign to those knuckle draggers.
