    How screwed am I

Depends on nature of your deferral and reason for denial. I’m 2 years in myself. Yes, it’s a pain. Yes, the system doesn’t make a lot of sense and it’s super frustrating. Any details on your specific case?

    Neuropsychological Tests

Agreed, get rest. It will be a long morning to early afternoon. Bring a snack. I didn’t take a break, but that might have helped.

    Basic Med Advice and Clarification

I’m in a similar boat. I’m having to run through all sorts of hoops for a class 3 deferral followed by denial with reconsideration upon meeting several FAA requirements. Been 2 years as of this month in the deferral process. I intend to meet all the requirements for SI then go to basic med as...

    Medical Wait Time!

I have a buddy that works for SWA that went to that same deal. It’s 3 months ONCE it gets into the hands of the reviewer. Still closer to a year total wait for GA pilots. Closer to 6 months for airline pilots. Good luck!

Special Issuance Requirements - Utterly Confused

Follow up question. I’m expecting, hoping for an SI in the next 8-12 months related to SSRI use for anxiety and alcohol substance use. I’m at the final stages for re-applying for SI through my HIMS AME. Assuming I get my SI, can I immediately move to basic? I want to look at getting off of the...

    Grief and anti-depressants

The regulations and processes are clearly, IMHO, confusing and nonsensical. I’d be interested in hearing definitive feedback. It’s confusing because, as I understand it, you can have conditions and medications that disqualify you from holding/being issued a class 3, but are not an issue for...

    Grief and anti-depressants

Keep in mind, just because anxiety or low lever depression doesn’t mean automatic SI, it still means 1-2 years in deferral process. If I were in your shoes and wanting to still fly solo, I’d go basic med.

    Cog Screening Scoring

If the FAA denies SI after this round, I certainly will. It doesn’t breed a lot of trust when they hide the scores for test they require you to take if you want your medical and after $6K in testing total. Thanks!

    Cog Screening Scoring

Does anyone know why the testers don’t allow the testee to see the actual scoring results of the Cog screen testing? I had to take a test for SSRI use a year ago and was required again by the FAA due to the prescribing SSRI Dr. stating I had “alcohol dependence.” I also had to do the ADHD...

    Cogscreen ADHD

As you’ll find on this thread, find a good AME/HIMS AME familiar with the process and who can guide you through it. As much as I hate the saying “it’s the FAA’s sandbox so play by their rules or get out of it…,” it’s true and you want everything submitted correctly and timely the first time...

    Cogscreen ADHD

I recently took the full battery of Cog screens including the ADHD protocol…no idea why I had to do the ADHD one as I’ve never been diagnosed with it. Long story short, expect to spend between $3K to $5K depending on where you’re located and the exams take about 4-5 hours depending on if you...

First class medical with two DUI’s

I honestly didn’t know that. I can tell you that I’m paranoid every time I’m behind some car with smoke billowing out and reeks of pot that I’ll get some false positive and be forced to start over.

Getting "Trapped" By AME's Refusing Fast Track

Lindberg said: You seem to be confusing binary decisions with easy or simple decisions. Do you have a substance abuse problem? That's a yes/no question. And yet, it's not black and white, is it? In the eyes of the FAA, it is black and white. Nice try though. :)
