Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Touché. Forgot about new injectors. The 7 cylinder thing is a head scratcher then. Yeah I went from an 02 7.3 to an 05 6.0, same gearing, same transmission...6.0 walked circles around 7.3 stock for stock. (Owned both trucks concurrently for about a year... So had real world comparison).

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

I wouldn't describe either of my 6.0's as sluggish off the line. Have previously owned and put miles on 7.3L, and 5.9L Cummins and the automatic 6.0 would best either truck off the line. My manual will also, until I have to shift. I'd make sure turbo doesn't have stuck vanes or other issues...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Do whichever is easier. I have the sneaking suspicion you won't be taking that bolt back out again because it'll either be providing trouble free service... Or you'll have sent it on to the next owner on 7/8. Fun fact, my last helicoil purchase was a different brand that's advertising was...

    Drones are a problem

Know of a commercial helicopter pilot who hates drones because some of what he does in the ag sector could conceivably be done much cheaper by a drone someday... He cites safety concerns in his arguments against them. I always call him on it. You have a good personal reason not to like em...

Texted this picture to my mom with "flew to Delaware this morning" She responded with "which one is yours?" The one on the left mom... The one on the left...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

I hate getting the turbo in and out... Otherwise most stuff on there's pretty easy wrenching, all things considered. For those real experienced 6.0 guys turbo removal is like a 15 min deal. I'm not one.

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Guy I work with is from Alabama. Our project is in Virginia. He gets to go home 5 days per 60, scheduled in advance (more accurately, he's off... His employer doesn't care if goes home or not). Left on a Friday night to get in both weekends on his 5 days off in his under warranty Dodge Cummins...

Very nice. I'd think you're well on your way to solving your issues based on what you've described.

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Cleaned my wife's TDI intake to similar results. Used VAGCOM to dial EGR to effectively zero. Seems to have helped.

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

I would be shocked if you actually needed a motor Ted. Not sure where they got those percentages, but a non-functioning injector would show 0% contribution if that's what they were referring to. I would try to find an independent diesel shop that is familiar with the 6L, even if they are...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

I've heard good things about this F350 you speak of. Mechanically sound. Yeah, it's 4x4. We'll keep it aviation related...here's a distant shot of her (over the wife's shoulder, from the backseat of my neighbor's aerial applicating (love making up words) R44 which he landed in the yard to...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

The death spiral of manuals being justified by take rate is humorous to me. It's circular logic (by the manufacturers/dealers). I can give you two specific examples, in real life: My mom. She always drove manuals, went to a dealer (brand not important) to look at new cars. They had far more...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

One, I think you're making a statement that just isn't true without qualifying which engine's you're talking about. I own an automatic 6.0 (2006) and a manual 6.0 (2005). They both have the same sticker on the valve cover, 365hp. No power pulled when they installed the third pedal. My 7.3...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Love a good "my brand wins, because it's the brand I own" conversation. ;) I have a Ford truck as my primary vehicle because I wanted something with 4 full doors, an eight foot bed, leather seats, solid front axle and a manual transmission and transfer case. My price range at the time dictated...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

I think buzz test, injector trouble shooting to get you running on 8 is step one, and it's either going too lead you to your smoking gun that's got it down a cylinder and hot start issues (injector failure that allows HP oil to leak down?) Or, you'll at least hopefully be on 8 cylinders...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

And those earlier trucks had some trouble with the harness chafing... Might be a simple(ish) fix. Still leaves your hot start (high pressure oil) issue.
