Degreasing the belly of a 182

I use Meguire's Cleaner Wax. Rub it on the grimey belly, let dry to a light haze and buff off with clean rags. The oil comes off and the belly is waxed. No water running down my arm. Works well for me. The bottom of my plane is half metal and half fabric. Barb

Narrowest runway you've ever landed on

Memaloose 25U, on the border of Oregon and Idaho, isn't really narrow. But I wasn't sure how tall the Lupine was so I landed on the 2 track down the middle of the field. I think a drunken sailor laid out the 2 track. :D Runway 17/35 Dimensions: 3300 x 120 ft. / 1006 x 37 mSurface: dirt, in...

Narrowest runway you've ever landed on

Brighton, MI 45G 3120 X 24ft Sulphur Creek is pretty much a one lane road but it didn't seem to closed in. The most claustrophobic runway I've been on was my friends. 1800 ft long, 60 ft from 12ft high cornstalk to cornstalk. In August it is like landing in a tunnel.

So tell me about flying the Hudson.

I thought this web site was helpful when I flew the Hudson http://www.germaise.com/interests/aviation_flyinghudson1.htm Also there is a sports stadium towards the north end. If there is a game on the stadium TFR extends over the river. Barb

would you fly across Lake MI in a 172 (80nm)

I would fly across Lake Michigan. The first few times across to OSH, I crossed at 8500, 5500, 4500 and 2200 ft. I cross to the UP over Beaver Island at about 1600 ft. and at the bridge at about car level. I like to be at my chosen altitude for about a half hour or so before I cross. It gives me...

What about West Houston KIWS? I haven't been there but I think it is not far off I-10, just east of Katy, and I've heard good things about it.

Are people always stupid near trains?

The idea of a backup camera is nice but... I recently rented a car that had one. Put the car in reverse and looked in the mirror. It took a couple of seconds to figure out what the blur in the mirror was. Then when I concentrated on the spot to the exclusion of everything else I could make out...

    Carry the entire medical certificate?

With the medXpress, the certificate can be printed on the computer so you have to cut the rest of the 8x11 paper away to make it normal sized.

    Helicopter Question

The only problem I see, is that the hospital's helicopter might be parked on the helipad. Makes for an unstable landing platform for you.
