I did the same thing years ago at HNL. The approach toward, and eventually over Pearl Harbor and Ford Island, I was told was the exact route the Japanese had flown.

Had a hard time pronouncing the local waypoints along the way lol....

Paparazzi caught my Celebrity the other night. I tried to get some cool video footage of the Ercoupe, but the fisheye lens on the Insta360 made it look like we were a mile apart:

I flew across the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station's Class C airspace for some "cheap" avgas at $5.82/gallon. The controller was very particular that I not descend below 3500' MSL. After advising me a second time on the altimeter setting, these 2 bad boys flew under me:

After filling my tanks and heading home, I saw this beast headed back to base:

Then, just a couple of miles from home, the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) was taking on supplies at Indian Island Naval Magazine

My flight was like a Navy recruiting poster! Seeing any one of these machines is pretty rare, but seeing all 3 on one flight was pretty amazing!

I finally got an invitation to fly into one of the nicest airparks in the area. Blue Ribbon Airpark (WN29) is in a gorgeous setting and enjoys a micro-climate that eliminates most of the rain penalty for living in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle gets about 55" of rain a year. The town of Sequim where Blue Ribbon is located is sheltered from most weather systems by the Olympic Mountains, so it only gets 17" of rain a year. Pretty sweet!

Just breaking through on the 1st leg of our trip home. BBG to FRH where we would spend 3 days AOG with a bad starter so vacation was extended a bit.

We stayed at the Best Western in FRH 2 nights before we moved to the West Baden Hotel which was pretty phenomenal. Should have stayed there all 3 nights. I do highly recommend FRH. Airport manager and staff was awesome during our stay.

When we finally got a new starter in the next stop was IDI this guy flew over while I was gassing up.

Overall another epic XC trip in the books. Love traveling in a GA airplane.
 
IMG_3702.jpegI’ve seen this view a hundred times on commercial flights, but it’s always special on a morning IFR currency flight in a 172.

When conditions are right like they were yesterday, I can knock out 3 approaches in actual in an hour WITH a hold! (Hold didn’t count yesterday bc I was VMC at the hold point)
 
Stop in Ely, NV, en route from Hayward to Boulder, CO to see my son spending money I could be using for aviation, @ CU

If you look closely, you’ll see my courtesy car is a white pine county work pickup “for official use only”
