Did we already do this thread?

Well if not. I'm drinking Colorado Native and watching Bad Santa.

Anyone got a worse Christmas movie?

Altho I just noticed that Sciffy has "Christmas Icetastrophe" later this evening. 12/20. I think I'll watch White Christmas for the hunfpdredumpteeth time or pop in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Worst has to be Polar express. I have kids so I have to sit through it. It is boring as hell and downright creepy. I loathe this "film"

2nd is a Christmas Story. I think I liked it the first time but it is time to let this one go. No need for 24 hour marathon of this movie.

Best Christmas Movie is Die Hard
It came out on Christmas
It takes place on Christmas
John McClain says "Jesus Christ" A lot.

And the sad thing is that the book, Polar Express, is wonderful to read to kids.

I must agree that Polar Express is pretty rotten. It is one of the most boring movies I have ever watched! The Die Hard series is fantastic.

Well you can thank the "uncanny valley" effect for the creepiness.

I'd have to agree with the others on the Lifetime movies. It's the Christmas versions of all your men hater movies.

Starwars Christmas Special. ( a must see ) Not really a movie but one really lousy show. The studio destroyed their copies. All that exists are VCR copies on YouTube.

There have been some particularly odious remakes of Christmas Movies.
The absolute most stinker was the remake of Miracle on 34th Street. Even casting Richard Attenborough as Kringle couldn't fix that one.

A similar one that they should have left well enough alone with was the Marlo Thomas remake of It's A Wonderful Life. Again, even throwing a big star (Orson Wells, you know that fat guy from the wine commercials) as the other lead couldn't save this turkey.

And for you IAWL fans:

My family and I like Polar Express. Five times already this season, and I don't mind it a bit. My little one loves it, and when it's snowing and a train is audible in the distance, she asks if it's the Polar Express.

If they ever stop playing the Christmas Story 24 hours on Christmas, well, we'll just play it ourselves for 24 hours!

We like and enjoy most of the Christmas Movies, but the really cheesy ones such as shown on Lifetime make all of us gag, including the wife.

To each is own!

I just learned about this one this year. It truly sounds awful. I must find it.

But can we all just agree that the best has to go to Christmas Vacation?

It is, but even this is overplayed. I used to love this movie, but I have absolutely no interest in seeing it anymore because it's EVERYWHERE. I think that's the problem with most Christmas movies.

That being said, I tried to watch "Love, Actually" the other night while wrapping presents, and it almost put me to sleep. Several of my female friends have told me for years how great and romantic it is. I made it through about 30 min before I shut it off. I should have turned it off right away when I saw that Hugh Grant was in it.

And while I am not as creeped out about The Polar Express as others in my house, I am disappointed with it. I absolutely love the book, and really anything by Chris Van Allsburg, but they did make the people in the movie look a little possessed. Our son is scared of the movie -especially the scene with the puppets and toys in the train.

The Christmas documentary of my house is Meet The Fokkers. Hehehe.

You're either in the Circle of Trust, or you're not... ;)

I was just thinking about doing that. Or the Mexican devil vs Santa one.
That was a great one. I still remember that Santa (or was it the devil)? had a machine that looked like a face with some sort of TV screen and the comment from the MST3K guys was "Is this weird enough for you?" LOL.

What, nobody's going to say "Die Hard" or "Gremlins"?

Nauga,
who says, "what's that smell?"

I never did associate Gremlins with Christmas. I know it takes place around that time in the movie, but I wouldn't associate it with Christmas movies.

I never could watch Its a Wonderful Life in one sitting, but I guess by merely coming across it while surfing the channels I've seen every scene in it at one time or another.

Favorite is Griswald Christmas.

Question: Is the trek where they go through the deep snow for a Christmas Tree shown on TV? For some reason I don't remember seeing that scene.

IAWL is the best -- a Christmas movie about attempted suicide, greed, hatred, desperate love, bankruptcy, prison, WWII, angels, death of a parent, illness of a child, mental illness, dissatisfaction with life, gratitude for life, and alternate universes, all wrapped up in one. Miracle on 34th Street also gets me every time. The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and David Niven is a must every season. Love Elf. Usually also break out Best Years of Our Lives in this season, not because it relates to Christmas in any way -- it doesn't-- but it reminds well what really matters. Which is the point, right?

I'm saving up for "American Sniper". Not really a Christmas movie but more along my preference.

I saw part of 'Christmas Vacation' the other week. My favorite character is 'cousin Eddie', I that's his name.

I have the Star Wars Christmas Album, and the SW Disco album, too! Now if I only had a needle for the turntable....
