What have we learned from being married?

Not to marry someone whose parents live in Europe.

Well hey now, if that's a dig at me, just make sure the parents live in a nice city you actually want to visit, such as London, or Berlin, or Paris, not a dingy little crappy town you would rather speed through and not stop. There is a reason my spouse left that town thirty years ago and never went back.

Standby has been a stock word for me as long as I can remember, probably dating back to being a comm guy in the military. People seem to think it's funny when I use it conversationally, and I think it's funny that they think so. It seems like a perfect word for the situations in which it's necessary.
Add "standby" to the list.

I've learned that it is much better to marry a smart pretty woman than a beautiful dumb one.

As they wheel her into the delivery room, do not say "Honey, you sure you wanna' go thru with this."

No, you ask the doctor how soon she can get some drugs.

Or in my case it was reminding the hospital staff that the birth plan included no drugs, and to please keep the lights dim. Not to mention a host of other support functions.

If all a husband does is comic relief, he needs to go back to school after getting beat with a hammer.

When I see what some people who are my age or older are doing to screw up their lives and future, it makes me reflect on how blessed I am.

I was actually fairly serious. I was begging for some drugs after 18 hours of labor, and I did not get a medal for suffering. Twenty-five hours of labor total. :(

I put my mom through 72 hours worth, and I'm still a pain in her ass.

I figured you were, so was I. Comic relief was the "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

Point really was that a husbaaand should be supportive, especially during that time.

That's hardly a surprise. :D

So what we learn about marriage from this is that your offspring may be wonderful, or they may be more like Ed? Heh heh! ;) ;) ;)

I have learned that 'do whatever the hell you want' does not mean 'go ahead and buy the plane'.

Maybe Ted needs a third GPS!!!!! Just kidding Ted,

Fred, is your dad building his airplane at 6Y9?

Get in plane.
Fly.

You're welcome. :D

I was waiting for that. :D

Actually the issue is that we won't take the 310 into grass strips. The gear is a known weak point and I have no desire to join the ranks of those who had to call the insurance company and say "Well, see, this is what happened..."

When we decided to keep the 310 and sell the Aztec we knew one of the compromises that would come with that decision was being unable to land at Gastons or 6Y9 (I wouldn't worry about the Aztec - Tony proved the strength of its gear), but the extra speed and better condition of the 310 plus other features made it the easy choice given most of our flying needs.

If you wanted to go to 6Y9 sometime we could take the Arrow. Would love to have the chance to meet you and the family.

And the GPS comment was just my petty jealousy coming through!!

But the Arrow only has one engine! :hairraise:

(I'm jealous of your fuel and MX bills :) )

Good ideas all around. We need to make it to a fly-in one of these days or have everyone at our house. Are you going to Wings?

Not planning on it. I was going to try to go to the fly-in in ILL this weekend but not sure the weather is going to cooperate so I might go up to CBUS ad help Matt with the annual he has scheduled. Also thought about Gastons but that is close to a graduation party I have to host so probably not. Hoping next year will be a bit less full and I can go do more.

And yes it is only one Engine but it is one of yours!!!!!

I might have an extra seat in the 310 if you're interested in Wings.

And I haven't had anything to do with those engines in 2 years! Once I wasn't there to keep the rif-raf out who knows what happened. ;)

Fly into LNL, and we ferry you over in a GMC or a couple of Pipers.

Has there ever been a Mooney landing at 6Y9?
