Agreed. I've had a 172/182 cross directly in front of me like that twice now. Once I had to take evasive action. I don't know what the guy was doing, we were at around 4500 and he had full flaps in, passed right across my nose, guessing he never even had a clue I was there.
Agreed. I've been closer unintentionally to stuff made out of metal and much bigger. If it only took a nudge of rudder and aileron to miss, it wasn't that close.
Converging flight paths at a shallow angle while gaining from behind is a real ***** to see and avoid. Until it's happened to you, you really don't know just how hard.
