May they Rest In Peace, condolences to their family, and the police brotherhood.

Not that it makes a lot of difference for the victims or their families but I really really hope this was an accident.

They'll sure leave a big void in that police department.

My condolences to all affected.

Congratulations bigot. Only second person I'd ever had to IGNORE on this forum.

One them was briefly a student of mine. He was only ASEL rated so wouldn't have been PIC. His wife was one of the sweetest, most genuine people I've ever met and had bought him a discovery flight as a present a couple years ago. She politely declined riding along as she was afraid of flying. I feel absolutely horrible for the victims and their families. :(

You don't have to be racist to be anti fascist. Enough.

So you think leftists with clubs shields masks and rocks are better than the violent Nazis that showed up in Charlottesville ? Same ****, different color.

What type of helo does VSP fly ?

Every time I watch this stuff I'm confused. Why would anyone do this? Who would see this kind of behavior and be motivated to change their vote? If anything you think people would be put off and want to switch sides. This is a free and democratic nation, flawed yeah but what could possibly be so bad that you have to go out and shut down a city or destroy people's property or hurt people? I just don't get it.

Some want to make it a democratic nation, it's not. But yeah, it can be nuts out there ;(

The accident was in a Bell 407.

Not exactly a type known for spontaneously plummeting from the sky.
The wreckage is pretty burnt up. I hope someone can piece together what happened to the troopers.

C'mon. A couple of officers died. Let's not derail this thread and turn it into some political or racism argument.

Along with at least one other person and numerous others injured...but lets focus on the officers.

Yes, since it's an aviation forum and the thread title is in reference to an aviation topic, that would be appropriate.

This may be my last post on this forum, but I can't bear this any longer. Were it not for the agenda of he White Nationalists, those officers would not have had to respond and lost their lives. But this whole issue of so many sides to blame" is just such utter ********. In this instance, there are only two sides. Either you supprt the White Nationalists, or you don't. Speaking for myself, I do not, will not and cannot countenance White Nationalist Nazi agenda. If that makes me an intolerant bigot, so be it. I'll wear it proudly.

To mourn these officers without recognizing why the lost their lives does them a great disservice in this instance.

Feel free to ban me

I spoke to the new guy (not sure who other trooper was...easily could have been other deceased pilot) at the fuel pit at my home base a few weeks ago. They were in a VSP c182 and the one guy was "new to the unit, just getting some training in while trying to land at all VA municipal airports".

Sucks.

The reason why they responded isn't important. It's their job. Like saying a rescue helo shouldn't have crashed trying to rescue some stupid hikers. It's their job. For all we know, they could've crashed on their next training flight but I wouldn't say they shouldn't be training.

Focus on why they crashed and not why they were out flying. Right now, no telling what happened and without CVR/FDR, we may never know.

Horse manure. They were flying because violent extremists carrying the flags and espousing the political dogma of our defeated enemies were committing violent acts, and air support was required to help preserve public safety. Yes, it was their job and duty. Had the White Nationalist Nazi's not been fomenting violence, they would be alive today. Why they were flying is far more important than why they crashed, short of being fired upon.

Maybe try decaf.

Or they could have been responding to a child lost in the woods. If so, then if the parents had been more attentive to their child, they would be alive.

Unless something someone did in the crowd caused the crash (throwing rocks, shooting, etc.) then it's merely coincidence. Whatever caused the crash on this day would probably have caused the crash responding to something else.

But I agree on the racist crap. On both sides of the spectrum.

I support freedom of speech. I don't agree with the the 'Nationalists' but, had their rights been honored by all, the accident may not have happened, there's no way to know. It could have happened on that flight no matter what the mission.

Unless one of the militia nuts shot at the chopper, I don't see a direct line between the reason for the operation and the outcome. VSP had a 44 year run of fatality free operations, it was bound to happen one of these days.

FTFY

Remember- there are a lot of political sites one can use to confirm their political beliefs.

Aviators need to support the fallen police aviator families and ask the big questions on why a reliable turbine helicopter crashed. We need our officers.

Who cares that they were flying because of white nationalists? They didn't shoot them down or anything. The pilots are expected to perform in a safe manner and be able to respond when called. If they can't do that, then they should never have accepted the call. Something in their safety program broke down to allow this to happen. Could've happen yesterday, tomorrow or 3 months from now.

It would be like saying if I balled up our 407 while trying to pick up a drunk driver that I shouldn't have been out there. The fact that I'm going to pick up a moron who can't drive drunk without crashing is irrelevant. It's up to me, my crew, my mech and Bell to make sure that flight goes off without a hitch.

I don't put the blame on society's problems in putting my life at risk. It's just life and like the troopers, we get paid to respond to life.
