Anyone have a vanity plate that has to do with flying? I saw av8tr yesterday.

I had my N number, N747JB for a while, then I went back to driving a demo, so now I just have a dealer tag.:D

I saw a blacked out Escalade the other day with the plate "MYG650".

Saw one the other day that said "GLASTAR", I assumed it was aviation themed as he had an EAA sticker in the window as well.

I had "91.205" when I was still instructing. Best $25 I ever spent.

When we bought a new car in 1984 my wife came up with this idea for a plate that blended "pilot" and "law".

The car and the plate are both long gone, but the name survives ...

:D

I have had "FLYIN" since the 1970's and my 2nd vehicle has "EVAC 22", the medevac base I flew out of.

My wife and I have Smithsonian Air and Space Museum plates (ours are old enough that they read Dulles Annex on them). Mine has N1RN which is my ham radio call sign (I was carrying that along as a reserved N number for years but finally let it go and it's on a glider in Indiana or something). I put our N number on my wife's plates.

Margy: Why did you put the N number on my license plate.
Me: What was your license plate number before?
Margy: I don't know.
Me: What is it now?
Margy; N5327K
Me: See...

There was an old pickup I used to see at Oceana with the tag "1 WIRE" which I always had a little laugh over

Seen:
FLYBOY 1
AVI8TR
V1ROT8
GOT 10
AFPILT

Would never get one myself

TN does not require a front plate so I have this in place of a plate;

Been thinking I want to put "LEAD" on the Dodge and "TWO" on the 5th wheel, but waiting for the proposed "Support Colorado Aviation" custom plates to get past the petition stage.

And words won't look right on that plate chopping them in half in the middle. Hrumph.

Getting a plate like these sounds interesting to me, but I suspect it would be similar to joining the "big watch" crowd....

In PA it only costs an extra $10 or so to get a vanity plate. Not exactly a "big watch" kind of show off. I see loads of vanity plates around (and have one on my Jeep), just a bit of fun!

The plates on my Porsche read Fly2Low. When I got the car it was faster then any plane I flew but I've since gotten a faster plane.

When I moved to Virginia 25 years ago, I assumed it cost more to not get a vanity plate given how many people had them.

And some vanity plates should simply be banned for being stupid. Just because you CAN get one, doesn't mean you should.

I didn't want to waste the photons by taking a picture of it, but I saw this in the grocery store parking lot last weekend: "ICUUQTU"

My old man had IFLYEM for years. Not sure if he still does.

I never had much vanity, so I never had any vanity plates. ;)

If I had one, I would consider ECCL-1-2. The ultimate vanity plate?

I went for something that identifies me to other pilots, but "civilians" have no clue what it is:

PPASEL

But BLUBORD would identify you as an elite pilot! (Or an internet troll.) :)
How about "POAxxxx" where xxxx is a numeric sequence? You just order the next one available. 0000 - 9999 possibilities per State should just about cover us. Then when we see each other on the road we can do the secret POA head nod.

Virginia bans them because they have no sense of humor. The most egregious of these was the rescinding of this plate:

If you can get 450 members in Virginia to commit to them you can get a special plate design authorized.

They rescinded this guy's plates after they found out that "EAT THE" coupled with the "KIDS FIRST" made a rather odd suggestion.

The VA DMV does not have a sense of humor that they are aware of.
