To say I really f******* hate it is the understatement of the year. I don't -hate- darkness per se, but to me it is time to sleep.

I don't mind GETTING UP in the dark. Nonononono. I look forward to the day ahead. I get up in the dark year round anyway.

I need my sunlight AT THE END OF THE DAY!!! Is that a concept too hard to fathom? It does NOBODY any good to have marginal daylight in the morning that disappears anyway as winter moves in.

No, I don't need it to be light at ten pm. But darkness at five pm? THATS STUPID!

FINALLY someone whining about the time change.!!

I thought maybe everyone had forgotten about it....:lol::lol:

And I live about 16 miles from Arizona...
 
As someone whose body seems to prefer to be up late, I like the fall time change and wish we'd never go back on DST again. This feels far more natural to me.
 
I'm a huge fan of DST. I love doing things outdoors on my afternoons and evenings. Once the time changes to standard time in the fall, I'm completely blocked from doing things outdoors after work. There's zero daylight to even walk around the neighborhood.

I’m always baffled by the symbol ‡ in the AF/D.

If daylight savings time went away, maybe I could figure out when there’ll be someone at an airport.

Except that the Navajo Nation, which is much of the northeast quadrant of the state, does do DST. But the Hopi Reservation, completely surrounded by Navajo, does not. And there is a small part of Navajo that is completely surrounded by Hopi.

in the summer you could drive the 106 miles on Highway 264 between Steamboat and Tuba City, and have to change your watch six times.

At least you aren't at 48N......we have a 4:35 PM sunset tomorrow :(.....as well as an "atmospheric river" rolling through. Felt like I was on a night flight over the ocean on a no moon overcast night, just driving around my neighborhood at 5 tonight.
 
After all these years of saving daylight, perhaps it's time for some daylight spending...

At last Sac has a rant that I agree with 100%. I like getting up in the dark. If it's light when I get up I feel like I have wasted part of the day. And I love my sunlight at the end of the day.
 
I prefer DST, but I just wish the change would go away. Apparently there is a bill on Congress to go to permanent DST, but I don't know what it would do with states like Idaho, which is divided into PT (north) and MT (south). I would not want to be on MT. First, we're too far west and, second, we live about 5 miles from the WA border. Hard enough to remember that our state capitol is an hour ahead; it would be really inconvenient to have to remember that we're an hour behind our near neighbors to the west.

You might like far-west Texas, or far-west North Dakota, or far-east Oregon. They’re like carve-outs in the time-zone map, where the sun sets later according to the clock.

But the reservations do. So when coordinating a medivac flight, instead of saying I'll be there at 2pm, I would say I'll be there in an hour...

It didn't sound very professional, but it made things easier.. :lol::lol:
 
fight the power! don't let the man hold you down! you go by your OWN dang time! it's 9:42am but by MY time it's 5:01pm. HAPPY HOUR, who's with me??!?!??
 
Yeah, abolish it entirely. My sleep schedule is still whacked out.
 
I call it Gollum time. Way too much darkness in the afternoons for me.

I'm not sure where it comes from, but some say it was because of kids having to go to school in the dark.
Others say it was for the farmers.
Either way, I think everyone would survive just fine without it.
I mean how much farming is done in the winter?
And how many kids aren't either out playing after dark anyway, or, sitting in their dark room amidst the warm glow of a video game?

I say give it the Banhammer.

I kinda like the change. The early darkness signals the beginning of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the holiday season. The time change helps me get into that holiday sprit. The switch back to DST is a different signal of the coming summer. It helps me switch from winter state of mind to a summer state of mind.
 
I for one like the change. Here in Iowa, the sunrise and sunset shift so much throughout the year, it helps keep things mostly centered.

Without DST, in summer the sun would be up at 4:00 AM. Sunset would still be a reasonable 8:00 PM, but 9:00 PM during DST is nicer, can do so much more in evening time.

If DST was year round, then in winter here sunrise would not be until 8:30 AM, pretty late to be getting a start to "daytime" activities.

One hour change does not disrupt my sleep patterns that much. Honestly my day-to-day routine moves around more than that usually. I don't see why people get bent out of shape over it.
 
OK, we also need to work on this climate change nonsense... Why do I have to put up with temperatures below 70 degrees? This Winter stuff is unnecessary!
 
The change annoyed me when I used to have to run around and change 20 clocks in the house and cars twice a year. Now we're down to only 3 or 4 that don't adjust automatically, so it's but a minor hassle.
 
Can't we just stop the days from getting shorter? :p That's the main problem. Maybe I should move to the equator. :eek:

Otherwise I don't really care. My sleep schedule varies so much that one hour lighter or darker doesn't make a difference.

Your screen name makes me wonder if perhaps you live near Greenwich. Zulu worldwide is a fine idea if you live near Greenwich. :)
