the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

One of Hoover’s “Pilot Debrief” video’s popped up on my Facebook feed yesterday. It involved a 2007 crash of a Piper Arrow where a young flight instructor killed himself and two students while showing off performing aerobatics.

As I watched the video, a familiar tail number jumped out me. Turns out it was an airplane that I flew about 80 hours in. I took my commercial ride in 1989 and my CFI ride in 1990 in it.

Of course, the true tragedy is the unnecessary loss of young lives, but I hated to hear that an airplane that I have fond memories of was involved.

Verizon outage rn.

Weird this thread reappears after 3+ weeks. I posted in it a week or two ago but it never updated so I figured the thread was dead.

Anyway, I will now repost my very important post about processing lead for avgas in Venezuela so we don’t continue to rely on one source in Britain.

Oh wait, 2030 unleaded gas mandate just came out

So I fly into CVG today and as I’m putting the plane away I look across the ramp and observe a few 121-ers in line for deicing. At the time there was no precip, bases were 1500AGL or so but there was definitely LGT-MOD mixed in those clouds.

Are these airliners just picking up some type 4 for funsies? Other than actively precipitating, I didn’t think types 1 and 4 were needed.

They may have been sprayed with type 1 to remove environmental icing - cold fuel and humidity, or ice picked up on approach. I've had lots of ice build up in flaps and on the landing gear of a 737. Had to be deiced before departure.

overnight at KBED, there was a 6 hour period when the high was -2.9 F with a low of -13 F

I'm glad I wasn't on the line at KBED (ok, technically the tower is closed then, but still)

It’s 47 ,clear skies and calm . Not bad for a day in North Montana
Expecting 60 degree weather this coming week.

Yup, warming up here too. Highs in the double digits is welcome!

It's 25 and sunny. I wore a t shirt

It was ~60ºF yesterday when I was taking a quick trip around the countryside. Today it's 20ºF with snow on the ground. Ain't nothing finer than to be in Carolina ...;)

I searched for sun n fun and similar variants and received zero results.

Does anyone have a pirep for me, I’ve never been

Tia

Last two times going to work - I make the left and go across to "south drive" through the traffic light. Right lane in the left / U turn is about half covered with snow. Waiting for the light there are two vehicles ahead of me. One mostly in the right lane, one in the left lane. Light turns green, veh in the left lane tries to go straight across, veh in the right lane tries to go left. Why? Two work days in a row. SMH the first time. WTF the second.

There's no better therapy to having a rough day at work than to go apply for a different job.
Have you considered jumping in a plane and hitting NOLA on the lighter Mardi Gras weekend? Ngl, it’s pretty good therapy.

My best RECENT day at work was the day I got an (expected) email from HR telling me to remove all access for four people, including myself. So I did, with a great deal of pleasure.

There were better days, to be sure, but they were a while back.

Shame that you couldn't instead have removed all access for that HR person. Now, that would have been hilarious!

Indeed I could have. I figured staying there was punishment enough for her. Time wounds all heels.

I knew it was coming; they'd laid off all of their US staff except for 3 or 4 of us who stayed on a couple months longer, so I already knew my end date. Account deactivations like this were normally done by one of my end user support team, but I got the emails also. I have a screenshot of that email, as well as a login screen telling my account was disabled.

Anyone watching any of the Olympics? I caught some of the Slopestyle event.

"Ski backwards. I've done that."
"Ski on the rail. I've done that."
"Nosebutter double cork 1620...

I think spring is nearing.

This morning snow, followed by the breeze freshening up to 35-40, then with the breeze came sunshine. When outside I noticed a prairie dog on top of the ground. And of course my nose opened up like Niagara Falls.

All sure signs of spring.

Of course I just jinxed ourselves of an early spring...

But the Pennsylvanian rodent saw its shadow.
