Southeast PoA [Pre Xmas Burgers] - GMU

I'm gonna say student pilot, progressive taxi please... :D

You can request progressive taxi w/ any rating. I'm sure you know that, and you're joking, but just in case you don't know, you do now! ;)

I only count 34 parking spaces on the ramp. Do they have overflow parking?

They're used to breakfast club traffic. Lunch should be no problem. ;)

now this is pretty funny. if you listen right at the end of the video, you can hear Mooney 12Q call up. That was us flying into this breakfast club event. Dang, it's a small internet!

Eman, is everywhere.....

Well POA, we are right at the 10 day Mark. As some have already been calling ahead and letting Runway Cafe know of our get together. I plan to call them tomorrow afternoon and give them a ball park figure as well. In addition a good idea was passed along by Flocker; he suggested folks coming in stick an 8.5"x11" paper in your windshield stating POA and name. I also plan on bringing name tags and a sharpie to help with the naming.

On the first page I was putting together a list of folks who were a definite excluding weather. Please send me a private message to reconfirm and to let me know how many folks you have with you.

Below you will find the WAY WAY early forecast... :D

I can't believe someone actually want to come after listening to this banter!

You are more than welcome :) Yep, "noonish" it is.

Is "Tri-City" a clue where you'd be coming from?

Lee, feel free to come on out. I will dd your name to the list at the start of the thread. Are you coming alone or bringing anyone? Trying to get a good headcount.

Thanks
Frank

If any of you are on instagram, one of their controllers is on there with a pretty cool page. @airboss127. He takes a lot of good quality pictures of the planes coming in to GMU. I might check to see if he is working that day and let him know were coming.

He posted a pic of us a few weeks ago. I shot this in the parking lot. Apparently we will be in good hands...

Oh gawd, now it's time zones.... you guys over there...

;)
Look at a map and you'll see the divider between eastern and central is west of where it is in AL, enough that most of not all of AL could be in eastern. Why is it in central? Hell, they're easily 10 years behind the rest of the country, what's another hour.

:D

Wx is looking good for Saturday. Sunny, with a high near 53.
You guys have fun. I was thinking about flying last weekend and then we got snow. The PDK closed. Ugh. Can't fly this coming Saturday, we have an Xmas Party that night.

Timing. :(

Actually (and he's cutting AL down) the border of GA/AL is the dividing line for ET and CT, so all of AL is CT.

But does remind me of a story about a high speed chase on I-20. AL State Troopers were chasing a bad guy and got to the AL/GA state line where the bad guy drives on into GA. The first trooper car stopped and pulled over, and the second trooper pulls in behind, asking why did he stop? First trooper says "oh hell, they're an hour ahead now, we'll never catch them".

The divider line north of AL is west of where it is for AL; it does jog a little east in TN. There are parts of AL in eastern. My sister lives just over the state border from Columbus, GA in Phenix City, AL. They are in eastern.

Even more fun the rest of their county is in central. Which makes loads of fun for schools; one time at home, another at school.

I went to HS in AL and then Auburn University. I moved to some Podunk rural town in AL from a small city up north, and had lived in Pittsburgh too. Talk about culture shock. Yikes!

So that means you won't be moving here then? That's the best part about living in AL, no one wants to move here, which is how most of us like it.

I'm hoping my arrival time coincides with the tiny yellowish sliver from this graph:

Been there done that, got the scars. ;) I actually made those comments back when I lived in Alabama.

Not bad if you like rural. Yes, there are some cities. I remember Huntsville being nice. That was 30+ years ago though.

I have some co-workers here in Atlanta, and we work in downtown, that like rural living and drive 1+ hr each way to live somewhere more rural. Some have horses, some just like the space. Heck I have relatives in NY that live in rural areas. I ran into friends in HS in AL that seemed to think everything north of the Mason-Dixon line was concrete and steel. Kids. It's nice and pretty, but I like being able to go eat at nice restaurants. I do envy those that talk about the sub $100 per month hangar rent. You won't find that in Atlanta, if you can even find a hangar that's available.

Of course when people ask me if live in Georgia I say, "No, I live in Atlanta".

My wife and I should be there. We're headed up to Concord on Saturday anyway. Flying or driving is not established yet based on forecast for Sunday. Not current on my IR so we may get stuck driving.

Turns out wife has to work... I'm now a maybe at this point... bout 85.636% I'll be there one way or another...
