Site Software Upgraded

I'd like to nominate all threads who's thread title changed to '.', '..', or '...' as featured threads.
 
Seems to be working now. Must have been a tough fix like clicking a checkbox or something.

I updated it to the latest version.

The problem with tapatalk is that their XenForo plug in sucks and other things (like turning on development mode) breaks tapatalk from working since they don't honor the proper interfaces.

FYI the site is now throwing up a banner every so often asking if you want to view in the browser or in taptalk when loading on mobile. Please disable if possible!

I run a (very small) Xenforo site. One user clamored for Tapatalk to be enabled when we first went live (he's the only one who's ever asked for it). I asked him what Tapatalk gave him that the native Xenforo mobile interface didn't, and he was never able to produce a compelling example. (I never enabled the Tapatalk plugin and he is still using the site, so...??)

So, same question to you: What does Tapatalk offer you that the regular Xenforo mobile interface doesn't?

it's not about xenforo vs tapatalk, it's about when you are a member of many forums, tapatalk centralizes them all for you in one app. think of it like you have a tv that only gets one channel. to get all the channels you have to get a zillion tv's and to watch a channel you have to go to that one tv and when you want to watch another channel you have to shut down that one tv and go to another tv. OR you get directv and get all channels on one tv. stupid example, I know, but basically it just centralizes all your forums in one place. if you're only on one forum it prob doesn't make much sense. and if you're incapable of using "apps" then it also isn't for you.

The ability to aggregate the forums I participate in.

Tapatalk also has a self-moderation feature allowing you to delete a post you created. I don’t know how long that capability lasts after posting because I’ve only used when I immediately thought better of posting what I wrote.

It also allows me to use one login to the app to access all of the forums regardless of my individual forum username/password.

There’s more, but those are the big three for me.

Hm. OK. I'm probably not wrapping my brain around that because I typically use a laptop to access forums. In my head, they're all separate places and I just click a bookmark (or type a few letters into the search bar and let the browser auto-complete the URL for me).

On my mobile devices I have a stack of shortcuts that go to the forums I visit, so I just tap and go, similar to how I use my laptop.

I've never felt the need or desire to have "one app to rule them all" (other than a browser). Maybe that's just a failure of my imagination. Or maybe if I frequented dozens of forums instead of a couple handfuls maybe that'd sound more like a benefit.

when I'm at home I use my laptop. on the road it's tt all the way.

I guess this is the thing that my lack of imagination prevents me from appreciating. I'd probably have to try it to really understand it. (Interestingly, the one user on my forum who requested TT never mentioned this as rationale.)

The forums I use all have edit options that either allow that, or at least allow me to replace the content with a "." or something to effectively delete a message. I'm not sure how TT could enable that feature if it wasn't already a part of the forum, unless it self-inserts a delay before posting, which I would probably opt to disable.

I use a password manager for this, along with the "keep me logged in" options available on almost every forum I frequent. I rarely have to enter credentials, but when I do, my password manager autofills them for me (which it does for *every* website requiring a login, not just forums).

It's not that big of a sort issue, just a minor pain. I figure the first time it gets to really be a time consumer, it's history.

Did tapatalk get axed? Worked fine this morning, just got this when trying to view from TaT a monute ago. It’s the site’s decision to make, but a heads up would’ve been nice.
