Everything Offends Me
I adopted my baby boy today. I can't bring him home until tomorrow though, while he gets neutered. Hes a German Shepherd mix that has been rescued from destruction at the pound. Very fun and playful. He really seems to have taken to me. Excellent.

I'm thinking of training him in German, per Richard's suggestion.

Mixed breed, rescued, best characteristics for a fine doggie companion.

Good on ya, Nick!

Nick,

Awesome!

LOVE my German Shepherd mix. And the last one, too... They're wonderful dogs. Have fun! :)

And yes, dogs are chick magnets. Took mine on an airliner once (won't do THAT again), of course he was amongst the bags. When I got him back at ABQ (of all places... How ironic!), he howled and howled (as he always does when I'm away for a while) and I was instantly surrounded. "Awwww!" Good dog. ;)

He looks adorable Nick. I'm glad you saved the little guy. :)

way to go Nick.
8,000,000 (yup eight million in the US alone) pets per year aren't quite so lucky, encourage everyone else to do the same.

That's what I've done with my GSD. Effective and unlikely that anyone else will be able to tell him what to do without your clearance.

How true. Most all (2 exceptions) of my pets have come from adoptions. I alswyas get the older pets that have settled into their personalities and need the family. My nieces just adopted a cat a few months ago and this past week it died from its illinesses, but they thought it best that the cat have a family for it last few months and made sure it was taken care of.

BTW if anyone is ever just feeling a little down about life or has a few hours to kill take a trip to the local animal adoption agency and sit a spell and pet the animal that come over and visit you. You will feel like a million bucks and it makes them happy too.

Thats exactly how I found the puppy I adopted. I've been going to the pound for a few weeks now whenever I have free time. I've seen many dogs on their last day and taken them out and played with them for quite a bit. Its sad, but I'd like to think that I gave them a bit of joy for their last day, and I can certainly say they brought me a lot of joy when I was feeling down. This dog and I really started bonding about a week ago, and a few days ago I finally put a deposit down to hold him. Yesterday, I couldn't bear to leave knowing that I could be keeping him from being adopted by a good family while he was living in the pound so I decided to finalize the adoption.

I need to get some sleep since I got off work, and I get to take my pooch home in about 5 hours. I'm pretty excited, and I hope that he is too.

Now I need to think of a name. Skydog is cool, but I don't think its a very doggy name.

Always a good karma building exercise!!

I can only hope that the a-hole who killed Jesse's dog will be taken of care of in many ways.

Nick, you'se a good egg.

And I happen to think "Skydog" is a great name, and who cares if it isn't "doggy" enough? Being your dog, he'll have great self-esteem, and won't care that his name sounds different from other dogs' names.

By the way, dogs adopt us too.

And say goodbye to Piper Skydog Brennan.

With tears in my eyes, I relay that I left the window open in my room, left the door open, and went to work. I got a phone call around 1:00 from my roommate telling me that he was nowhere to be found. I left work, came home, and found a pretty sizable stain on one of the major roads nearby from a cleanup approximately the same size as Piper.

Just in case, we checked the pound and he's not there, he's not in the neighborhood, and he is not at any of my neighbors' houses.

I assume that was him on Montano.

Sorry to hear that Nick....Hopefully he'll be coming back.

Man, that is the suck. Hopefully he turns up.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Here's hoping that you're jumping to conclusions and that he comes bounding up to you tomorrow. :fcross:

It's never any fun when your pooch buddies get hurt. Sorry.
