Restrictions while Air Force One en-route?

And if he used the civilian airport instead, there would be complaints about why doesn't he use the easier-to-secure-and-less-hassle-for-the-common-folks AFB.:nono:

Yup...especially when it comes to politics and aviation you will never ever make everyone happy. Consider it a huge success if you get 10 people happy.

The Pres is coming here this Thursday to Friday. A local news report indicates he will be less than 1/4 mile from my house. It will be interesting to see what sort of law enforcement presence is noticeable.

Apparently the plans were changed, as current news reports indicate he will be on the other side of town.

This week Sikorsky won the re-bid for a new fleet of 21 'Marine One' helicopters.

This is the second award for this contract, the first one was canceled because the initial winning Lockheed/AgustaWestland award escalated costs to a mind-boggling $13 billion dollars, of which $3.2 billion was actually paid out before the contract was canceled.

This new award is for a merely pricey $2.4 billion.

Somehow, 114 million dollars seems like enough for a helicopter. :dunno:

You could buy a dozen glass cockpit R-44s, throw some armor plating on the floor and put a "disco ball" up top and save the taxpayers 1.1 billion dollars.

There's no reason to be frugal when you're spending other people's money.

Closer description would be "unthinking fan"

Unthinking? Good lord, read some of your posts! Incidentally, one of buckleys closest pals was the liberal professor gary wills who wrote the best seller "Reagan's America" probably the most honest appraisal of Ronnie. Wm Buckley was a left winger compared to the current radical nut cases.

Caught in economy class this past week was Prince William. Personally, that is where our "DIP"lomates belong. Considering the BS they gave big business for riding around in personal aircraft, even steerage isn't good enough.

I was going to point that out, but thanks for doing so.

Sequestering the stupidity to a military base far far away where all the little reporters and their microwave trucks can beam the BS back to the station, is fine by me.

Dropping a Not-So-VIP TFR over a major airline hub, is beyond retarded if they don't have to. More retarded than the TFR itself.
