Plane down in st Louis

Looks like he ran it out of gas as well. Tanks were not ruptured and only 2.5 gallons of fuel were recovered. Plane has 26 gallon tanks and 22.5 usable.

Completely preventable. Flying at night with a known electrical problem, a handheld without sufficient battery power, no guarantee of runway lighting, and no reserves to make another field, or possibly not even enough for a go around.

He told his fiancé the electrical issue was “minor” but that was obviously just to put her (and himself?) at ease.

I hope someone restrains me with handcuffs if I ever catch a case of gethomeitis that severe.
 
Good God. The string of ridiculous decision making started with a 1400 EDT takeoff, and got worse from there.
