Brook, I am so proud of you! As Diana said it is not easy and that is why I am so proud of you. You are really trying hard to do this. Keep up the good work. Maybe you can help old Bob get back to Gaston's next year. Bob

Brook,

Congratulations. It's not easy, and it's even harder keeping it off. I'm 60 pounds lighter than I was 8 years ago. I lost it in two stages, putting a bit back on in between. Eat sensibly and exercise.

Congratulations again, and keep up the effort. You really will feel better and be more healthy.

Thanks Bill. :) Congratulations on loosing 60 lbs and keeping it off.

Hey Brook, good for you! It's hard work, huh? There are a ton of health reasons for most of us to drop some weight, so keep after it. I've lost some and still have more to lose. It's a life style change for sure.

I'm in your corner. You go!!!!

Right now I just take it one day at a time, but long term I am looking at maybe 100 - 120 lbs.
I've seen people achieve some amazing goals. With the right mindset and willpower, you can do it. I believe you will.

Alriiiiiiight!! Keep it up, Brooke! That's awesome!:yes:

Way to go Brook! I lost about 30 pounds a few years ago after I joined a gym and went with a personal trainer. Then I dropped the trainer (money went to flying, instead), and I've gained it all back. I really need the self-discipline you're showing. Congrats, and keep it up!

That's aweseome, Brook! Congratulations! I'm also offloading - the wife and I both went on Southbeach beginning in July. Between us we're down over 50 lbs now. :D

Good job Brook. Six years ago I lost about thirty pounds and it's still gone. It's a daily challenge and a job that never ends.

Good luck Brook. Weight management is an insidious problem. Diet, exercise, and discipline do it every time. The discipline is the hardest part.

Way to go Brook! I lost about 40 pounds a copule of years ago, and so far only about 10 of it has come back. I need to get back on the horse, so to speak...

Congrats, Brook!

Rachel lost about 30 lbs last year doing Weight Watchers. She was so impressed with their system that she is now working for them as a 'Group Leader'.

I've never had to lose weight, but after living with Rachel while she was/is going through it, I can understand the motivation and discipline necessary to accomplish your goals. Keep at it! Rachel has a great saying that she uses when she gets frustrated with food (mostly Thanksgiving and Christmas): "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." :)

Congrats brook!

Where I have less to loose I'm not being as successful... I gained a lot moving to PA Had to give up my health club and couldn't find a suttable replacement (they all have hours here) I bought an expensive peice of excerise equpiment but have yet to be diciplned enought to use it everyday...

The book looks intresting... are you getting a cut for selling it for them?

Missa

Losing weight is tough. I dropped 12 pounds over a few weeks following my surgery in July, but as of this morning I've gained back 6 of them. I need more exercise! And I've even stopped my morning doughnut habit, but it isn't helping. Great job, Brook. Keep it up!

Sounds like a no-holds-barred diet book, and it also sounds like it's working... good for you! Pick whatever weight goal you want, but remember: it's not about the number, it's about looking at yourself in the mirror and saying "I like how I look, and I feel good."

I pity people who look in the mirror and say "I still have three more pounds to lose and I'm so hungry I could eat my own head". They don't get it, and they will very likely gain all the flab back in no time.

And remember... muscle weighs more than fat. I had a very weight-conscious GF once who worked out like a maniac and had an amazing bod at her peak- but she was obsessed with a particular weight; didn't want to hear about how great she looked. She was always disappointed or ashamed of herself for eating something enjoyable. Bizarre, and one of the reasons she's an ex-GF...

That being said, with my middle-age thickness setting in, I realize I need to exercise a little more, especially if I'm going to be "shoveling" stuff like the half-rack of ribs I ate last night...

Wow, great for you! Keep it up!

:wonderwoman:

WTG Brook!

Just by virtue of not sitting in a damn truck all day long, since I parked it on the 25th of July I've lost 15 pounds without even trying (well, except for all that walking at OSH).

Today, I started trying. My old friend Trek and his buddies Helmet and Gloves came out to play, possibly for the first time since my riding vacation in Europe in 2002.

I'm so proud! :cheerswine:

WARNING - Bicycle riding is a lot like meth, except your teeth don't fall out.

Hey B good on you!!! I always refer to loosing weight as gaining useful load. Keep up the hard work.

Nice job Kent. :) Sitting sure doesn't help. That's what I do most the day.

Im thankful I have a boss that is trying to kill me by making me walk every day. It is becoming a little easier. :)

Im sure Trek, Helmet and Gloves are glad to see you again. :D

B!tch! I hate your book!

I just got it and was reading just the first few pages...

Smoking out... no problem...
Soda = Satans nector.... Ok, yea, I'll work harder....
Beer is for boys... Dam I like a good craft beer now and then but since Red wine is ok I can sub out a bit more beer for wine, I'll go look for the no sufate added stuff....

No coffee.... Now B!tch you've gone too far!

Dang, I guess that means I'm additiced... ok... I'll work on it, green tea here I come. But not till Monday. I'm not quitting coffee on Friday (It's mocha day!)

I thought I'd let you know about a book my Mom recomeded. My aunt had a lot of success with it. It's called the Vitamin D Cure (by James Dowd). Basic premise is that as a socity as we have moved inside and twoard convience food we have not been getting enough Vitamin D and it is linked to obesity, arthritis and joint pain, depression (at least the sesonal kind). And that if we make minor changes to get enough Vitamin D then most of this will go away. Haven't read much yet but after talking with Ma I went out and got a Vitamin D supplement and started taking it waitng for the book... after a week, my ankles hurt less. So I'm going to try the advice in this book too.... even though he hit my other major scarcred cow.... NO CHEESE (causes an acidic reaction in the body) UGH! I start that when I run out of cheese in the house, I'm not throwing away good cheese!

Missa

Good job B, I totally missed this thread!

I've thought about losing weight. I don't have the self discipline at the current time to do so, so that makes you a much better person than I.

Here's to your continued success!

My brother-in-law moved out ---he was staying with us until his house was remodeled. My wife cooked huge dinners for him - now we've gone back to light dinners - lost 5 lbs already!

Quitting coffee on Monday might not be the best idea either! :hairraise:

What's wrong with that guy??? If you do choose to follow his silly advice, I applaud your efforts to use your cheese properly. :D
