Ok ok ok.....

I've thought about losing weight. I don't have the self discipline at the current time to do so, so that makes you a much better person than I.

Nick,

Ya quit smoking, didn't ya? I bet losing weight is easier.

What's wrong with that guy??? If you do choose to follow his silly advice, I applaud your efforts to use your cheese properly. :D

Well, I don't plan to fully give it up either... I still perscribe to my eveything in moderation theroy.... just a bit more moderation and do what I do with Choclate... IF I'm going to have it, it better be the REALLY good stuff. Which limits the intake due to the $$ it takes to get the REALLY good stuff. So no more american, no more off the shelf cheeter or swis or jack... 10 yr old gouda, black diamond swiss, etc... still on the plate. & I plan on balanceing it with fruit and greens instead of crackers or pasta.

Missa

Quitting coffee on Monday might not be the best idea either! :hairraise:

Got to Start sometime... but the weekend gives me enought time to get LOTS of green tea... I don't think there is much or any caffeein in green tea.... but i can pretend. Not above deluding myself to help with a long term goal. :)

Dang, I guess that means I'm additiced... ok... I'll work on it, green tea here I come. But not till Monday. I'm not quitting coffee on Friday (It's mocha day!)

Water and B vitamins are good substitues for coffee. You know I love my coffee (I'm the only person in the world who actually east coffee yogurt), but it's not good to have caffeine every day anyway. Things to remember:

- Caffeine is a metabolic inhibitor
- So are artificial sweetners

Therefore, diet soda = bad.

I won't get into all of the fun chemicals in soda in general that are bad for you...

So, I'll now have to hold you to your no coffee on Monday. Try sleeping, that helps as well. ;)

B!tch! I hate your book!

I just got it and was reading just the first few pages...

Smoking out... no problem...
Soda = Satans nector.... Ok, yea, I'll work harder....
Beer is for boys... Dam I like a good craft beer now and then but since Red wine is ok I can sub out a bit more beer for wine, I'll go look for the no sufate added stuff....

No coffee.... Now B!tch you've gone too far!

I thought I'd let you know about a book my Mom recomeded. My aunt had a lot of success with it. It's called the Vitamin D Cure (by James Dowd). Basic premise is that as a socity as we have moved inside and twoard convience food we have not been getting enough Vitamin D and it is linked to obesity, arthritis and joint pain, depression (at least the sesonal kind). And that if we make minor changes to get enough Vitamin D then most of this will go away. Haven't read much yet but after talking with Ma I went out and got a Vitamin D supplement and started taking it waitng for the book... after a week, my ankles hurt less. So I'm going to try the advice in this book too.... even though he hit my other major scarcred cow.... NO CHEESE (causes an acidic reaction in the body) UGH! I start that when I run out of cheese in the house, I'm not throwing away good cheese!

Missa

It's ok Missa. I AM HERE FOR YOU B!TCH!!!!! :)

I've now lost about 35 lbs in a little over a month and a half. :D

Way to go Brook! :happydance:
Thank you. :)

Man...what I wouldn't do for a slice of cheese pizza. Since I don't eat cheese anymore, I guess I have to do without. :(

There was a piece yesterday at the golf tournament I worked at. Geez...it was HARD not to eat it, but I did good and DID NOT!!!!! :wonderwoman:

Brooke,

Congratulations! You are starting a lifestyle change for the better, for sure!

My wife went through a tough time when we were trying to find a "lifestyle" that allowed us to both eat right and be more healthy. We were having some health problems and it was one of those deals where the doctors couldn't find a problem.....

This was before the Skinnyb.... book was out, and we settled on "The Maker's Diet" coupled with working out for her and running for me. A diet single is like the toughest thing to do, so hang in there, it gets better as your body gets used to good food.

That is something not to be taken for granted. Many Green Teas are high caffeine teas. You have to check, though I believe any of them is less than coffee.

I can't read what ingredients are in moonshine but that hasn't stopped me. :)

No. Not a Vegan yet. I still eat a little bit of chicken or fish.

Thank you. :)

Day 0.3 without coffee.... and it's not prity.

As I walked in to the office and passed the coffee room I took a BIG SNIFF.... maybe later Ted will have to rip me away from the room so I can get some work done instade of trying to inhale my daily coffee...

The skimming of that chapture still has me so yucked out that I couldn't eat meat last night for dinner... nice spinnage salad with sunflowsead and soynuts. YUMY

Missa

Yeah, and I already had to scold you once. "NO COFFEE!!!!"

That reminds me of a story from that ex of mine. She was raised vegetarian. When she was about 6 or 7 she was with relatives for Thanksgiving and there was a Turkey out on the table. In confusion, she proclaimed "Mommy, there's a dead bird on the table!"

I love cow, but best to stay away from it for weigh purposes. Chicken and fish are the way to go.

Spoken as a skinny bastard. Maybe I should write that book. :)

Day 0.5 and the coffee bestie won. The headace was too bad and I had to function. 1/2 a cup later and I'm much better. O well, tomorow we start agian and maybe last till 3 till I give in for 1/2 a cup.

Going cold-turkey on caffeine is no fun at all (been there, done that). Try mixing decaf/caf for a while to ween your way off of it - especially if you are so dependent on it that you feel like you can't function without it. That will also prevent the 'shock' of going sans-caffeine AND sans-warm liquid at the same time -- too many 'changes' to your system/mind at one time.

Good luck and keep at it! Caffeine is a hard one to break.

As a person who is horribly addicted to Dr. Pepper, I can relate. I used iced tea to try to compensate (it was the sugar, not the caffeine I was trying to avoid), and while it helped....blegh, its not the same.

Keep at it, Missa, you'll get it!

Don't try to cold turkey caffeine.

Wean yourself off.

Caffeine is an addiction that HURTS when its halted. It's worse than nicotine.

Yes it is. And nicotine is a drug that has beaten me more times than I care to count....once more than I care to admit.

Are you smoking agian nick??? If so no matter how many times you fall off jump back on... I gave in to 1/2 a cup and am feeling better.

I came off caffeine cold turkey. I had a headache for 2 weeks. But now....even the sound of a pop from a soda can makes me sick.

As one who has quit both, you are absolutely correct. Quitting caffeine cold turkey resulted in the worst headaches of my life.

Sprite Zero, aka Diet Sprite, is my drink of choice. No nothing but artificial flavors and tiny bubbles. :)

Day 1.3... feeling better and more alert. Working on eating lots of fruit to replace the sugar from the coffee and drinking lots of water to flush it all out... hopefully the 1pm headace will not come or will be easier to take if I am not dragging my butt around the office.

You have tapeworms too? :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Not after reading what was in that book about aspertaime... YUCKY!

Apsertame (no i), like most chemicals, is icky stuff that you really don't want to consume. I prefer unprocessed sugar, but if I can't get it I'll take the bleached white stuff first any day over any of that artifical junk.
