Cleared for Takeoff
Hello All,
After a 14 year break from flying (I'll spare you the details) I have once again picked up where I left off in terms of the complete joy of flying I experienced in Southern California and points beyond. Obtained my 3rd clas medical and then recieved a comprehensive Flight Review for VFR flight at John C Tune airport in Nashivlle. Interesting enough, it was in the same C-172 I flew in 2000 while visiting Nashville. Same airplane, but with a Garmin 430 now. When I stopped flying in 03', GPS was just coming online so I have no experience sans twisting knobs on a GPS that was in a new C-182 at the time.
A little about me. I'm a Liscensed SEL, Instrument with HP, Complex and taildragger endorsements with ~425/hrs. I was an AOPA member for 10 years up until 2003 and I plan to join again ASAP.
I'm impressed with how the AOPA webiste has evolved and I'm currently working through the online basic VFR course for the Garmin 430
Look forward to learning from others to strengthen my overall aviation education. But I have much to catch up on.... Like, when I broke out the VFR sectional at my first meeting with the CFI. He jokingly asked what is that? We use those for cockpit sunshades as he went into detail how Foreflight and Ipads rule the day. For now, VFR flight is fine as I'm just boring holes in the sky around the local area.
Regards
MF
