Nonetheless, the LP's platform favors parental control over education, the elimination of the public school monopoly, and the elimination of most government interference in education (including doing away with the DoEd, not abolition of education itself. The party's official summary position is:
There also are position papers and discussions that go into more detail, but the most commonly-held position would provide advance education tax credits (not unlike the EIC or Obamacare subsidies), which is basically vouchering. But again, this thread is about boomers, not the LP; so you can do your own research if you like.
Okay, now I understand: They serve no purpose in terms of anything that you perceive to be of any benefit to you, so **** 'em all.
