Congratulations, Bryan. Here's to many many happy flights!

Congrats, Bryan... what color is the handle in the Grumman?

very very nice. And it has great looking paint! I wont fail you again.

AA5's don't have many faults, but lack of places to put your drink happens to be one of them. :(
Best solution is a window bow mount from Guy Warner from which you can attach iPad mounts, drink holders, GoPro mounts etc

WAIT!!! NO CUP HOLDER!!!!
WTF did I just get myself into????

That's a new one I have not seen. Maybe it is actually a panic switch. LOL

Not a panic switch, it's pre-wired for chute install/deployment

I'm mighty glad you finally got the bird you've been wanting. Congrats, Dude!

I guess we shouldn't make Cirrus jokes anymore since you bought a metal airplane.

P.S. Come pick me up if you're ever out gallivanting in my neck of the woods.

Are Grumman fuselages metal? Last I heard, the wings were composite, built around a circular spar, and there was once a problem with delamination due to bad glue at the factory . . .

The wings are aluminum like the rest of the plane. There were some that had "bad glue." I think it was the purple stuff. There was a run of about hundred serial numbers that had it, give or take 99, lol. It wasnt all that many of them.

The fuse is bonded aluminum honeycomb. The wings are bonded aluminum around a tubular spar. The bad glue (purple passion) was only on a select number of serial numbers and those have long ago been fixed.

That's the story everyone believes. The reality is that the purple stuff was just assembly glue and they forgot to put in the rivets. After the initial planes sold with the temporary glue they figured they were onto something and changed to a slightly more permanent assembly glue. All the these little planes will fall apart at some point in time.

I know this is true because I just made this up.

Congrats. I've out almost 100 hours in my tiger since September. Every time I fly it I still can't believe how much fun this plane is

Well I just read this on the internet, so it must be true!

Reeeeally?
Grummans far and wide about to come from together?
Should lead to a solution to the purported/feared/rumored parts availability problems - they'll be falling from the sky!

Do you know why things you read on the internet are true? Because they are displayed by computers and computers can't lie.

Did you get the STC for rear seat autopilot?

I heard once you go back, you never go ...umm.... back.

ok that was stupid.

Pretty much.
....but really that's another distinctive advantage of AAx's - remove rear seat backs, fold seat and base, and voila a baggage compartment big enough to sleep in or whatever.

Congrats - well deserved. Enjoy - should make for a great chapter of life!

Looks great... I like it better than the Cirrus. 11R will be opening the diner again very shortly. Fly it over for lunch one weekend.

Nice paint scheme! Congratulations! Are you picking it up and flying it home yourself?

Congrats, welcome to the po house......er, I mean aircraft ownership.

Like a billion.... But that's book numbers.
120 in real life

I got some thoughts...

you spent time and money looking at 2 planes..
i spent time to look at 1 plane, only 60 mi,, and i knew i wasnt going to buy it..
your plane is 1300 mi away,,, but someone is going to bring it to you.
i drove 600 mi to see the plane i would buy,, i thought that was Close to me,, wow!
you have Never Even seen or touched your new plane.
i have touched caressed and fondled, even flown my plane,
then i sat in the kitchen, signed the papers and gave the seller my hard cash money!!
i drove home wondering,,, what have i get myself into??
i, like you dont got no cup holders,, nor do i got an ashtray1
i bought mine,, a 66 Cherokee on march 14 at ID26, just so of Boise, but live near KPWT Belfair,, 400 NM.
i planned to get it in 30 days,,, well, things happened, and weather happened, many mountains, soooo
on june 22 i parked at my airport, my friend drove me to town, i rode the ferry to seattle,a cab to the bus,
12 hours to Boise, a cab for 95$ to the plane,,, still somewhere between excited and terrified!
1 1/2 hr preflight turned into 3 1/2 of hemin and hawin,,, lost my sunglasses,, looked everywhere i had been
while getting ready,,,, finally gave up, but checked again,,, under the pas seat,,,,
no more excuses,,, im no longer excited,,, i am only,,,, terrified!!!
i started this plane 101 day ago, but now it doesnt,, OK,, wait,,, try it again, its runnin!
time to ****, or get off the pot...
I flew Alone for the 1 st time in 28 yrs,, 37 mins later i had to land at KMAN for gas ill need,,
and my 1 st solo landing in 28 yrs.
later i flew for 4.7 hrs north over the small mountains,, and then,, west over the Tall Mountains
down into my home area and another landing.
i found a spot and pushed back, chained down MY OWN PLANE safe at home!!!!!

ps... I forgot to say.. congrats..
but i gotta say
you have been current flyin with the plane your dad and you own,
i had none of that...
now we really Own Our Own planes!!
At least yours is purdy,,,, but ive rubbed my eyes across mine...
i flew 400 nm by myself.

and more,,, when you made the deal,, you said,,, what hve i gotten my self into??
I did that in march,,,, i would look at the pic i took then and say,
I dont own a plane that looks like that,,,,,,
i own THAT airplane.....
but i knew it was 400 mi away....

now it is different,,, I look at that pic and i gotta think...
I Own That Airplane...
but its hard to for me to understand,
my own airplane is now parked only 15 mins drive away,,,,, WOW!!!!

again,,,congrats to you,,

keep telling me more,
want the story,, alll the stuff..
