I would love to join you, but widespread showers and well-below normal temperatures as an upper low interacts with a coastal low will move over the Carolinas through Monday. The coastal low will linger over my area and keep the weather wet and breezy. Low clouds will linger through the night. The center of the closed upper low should be centered over the Carolinas. The surface low riding underneath will gradually dissipate during the day Monday as it meanders over the eastern Carolinas. With lingering available moisture from this system and good upper dynamics, I expect scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to be possible. In this case, support for daily showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast through the end of the short-term.
Also, I’m out of town.
I'll be doing my BFR. Gotta make sure I still know how to fly.I have a Lifeline passenger to pick up at UIN on Saturday, so I'm unilaterally calling a breakfast there. 10AM CDT at Bluehaven Cafe, Quincy Regional Airport. Hope some of you can make it.
Looks like they have some closures for runway/taxi, plus @eman1200 will be out of town.I have a Lifeline passenger to pick up at UIN on Saturday, so I'm unilaterally calling a breakfast there. 10AM CDT at Bluehaven Cafe, Quincy Regional Airport. Hope some of you can make it.
What you need good sir, is a boat. Then you too can use this word on occasion!only time in my life I ever used the word regatta in a sentence was when making a calzone or baked ziti. serusly
Yes, the north-south runway is being redone to address visibility issues.Looks like they have some closures for runway/taxi, plus @eman1200 will be out of town.
Just do your bfr in the direction of Quincy.I'll be doing my BFR. Gotta make sure I still know how to fly.
Weekend of 17th I’m doing a family flying trip to Mackinac. 24th could work.Cowman and I had a nice breakfast this morning. Food at UIN was better than I remember, and I had forgotten how cool the old terminal building is. We'll have to hit it up again one of these days when more people can make it.
That said, does anyone want to try again for June? The 17th and 24th are both open for me. I'm thinking 05C as it's one of the few I haven't been to yet. Open to suggestions, as always.
The restaurant at KALN is now supposed to be open. https://www.cay-dens.com/
I'm game.Any ideas for August? Thinking about going somewhere Saturday

I'll likely be flying from KAZO if I'm able to meet up on Saturday. Juggling a couple family events atm.I'm game.
Looks like the new restaurant (Flakos Tacos) is open at 05C.
We still haven't done GPC or EYE, although those aren't much of a flight for you.
Waco Kitchen at BTL. I assume KAZO has food of some kind with the museum there.
New restaurant open at ALN, but that's a long haul from Indy.
Open to any other ideas.
The Apron at KJXN does really good breakfasts.I'll likely be flying from KAZO if I'm able to meet up on Saturday. Juggling a couple family events atm.
On the KAZO field itself I think it's just the Kitty Hawk Cafe within the museum. They have an F117 there now in case you didn't get your fill of plane-viewing at KOSH. There's a KJXN restaurant too that I went to a few weeks ago; pretty decent no-frills diner on the field.
Anywho, I'll stay tuned to this thread and confirm when able. I don't want to nominate the resty since there is a non-zero chance I end up tied up with fam that day
