Midwest POA Breakfast Meetup Thread

Does KRPJ still sound like a good idea since this didn't happen in January? I suggest the 13th as the first attempt. That way the 27th is a backup date. Hopefully by then none of us have to deal with ice!!
Hopefully it will be so nice we have to dodge meat bombs!

Rochelle, Rochelle . . .

FYI, Perryville, MO fly-in on the 20th, so 13th with the 27th as backup sounds good.

Anyone want to play hookie tomorrow for a lunch @ JVL? I've been working since Saturday and very tempted.

Very tempting……

If weather cooperates I’m going to go to JVL Saturday

I only got the Cub. I'm probably skipping lunch trip to JVL, but with the shortened timeframe will poke a few holes in the sky between Chicago and I-39.

Has an “on the ground time by xx:xx @ RPJ” been declared for the 13th?

1087 posts, 6 actual lunches. :)

Just kidding. You guys have a much better track record then the Southeast gang.

Hey...I counted 10, and we spent an entire page just defining "midwest".

Also, this thread is pretty entertaining.

Thanks for wasting an hour of my evening :p

Hopefully you can replace that lost evening hour with an hour of fun conversation and good food at RPJ soon!! LOL

Well now I have to go back in the thread for a geography lesson on which states are true members of the Midwest.

Who's using standard time in May? That doesn't sound Midwestern at all!:stirpot:

Great point! LOL So are we supposed to be wheels down @RPJ 11:00 CST or CDT or EST or EDT?

Crap. Dst strikes again. Good catch.

In my experience, it doesn't really matter when I set the time for anyway...

But it's fixed now. I think. Im terrible with time zones.

Supposedly not.

Supposedly.

I could swing over your way from EYE to pick you up on my way. Unless kaiser needs/wants the hours

It's just that RPJ is a 10 minute flight if I rent the twin. Although I need approaches in the next week or two... decisions decisions...

You also mentioned the useful load was terrible.
Oh. It is for my stated mission. That’s where I love that P32R hauling capability…. But I think you and I should be alright.

Put me down as a maybe. This is my first visit to PoA all year so I haven't been keeping up well. Things have been busy, both at work and with our newest little copilot born in late February.

I do like Rochelle, though, and I need to exercise the bird. Sure is a lot of yard work to do tho... :(

I didn't know there was a restaurant there; appreciate the pirep. It's about 1.5hr for me. Only bad part is I think you're the furthest one west. Neal and I are probably the next closest, so it's a pretty long flight for most.

The restaurant at KJEF is fairly new. I forget what happened, but they had to rebuild everything there, the restaurant is a happy side effect of that. I've only eaten there once, but it was definitely above average for airport restaurants...

Same (for that money I'd rather have a Baron even though I don't have MEL rating)! I just didn't think there were many Mooney's out there with TKS....

There's quite a few TKS Mooneys... In fact, the Ovation with TKS was the first FIKI piston single. All of the long-body Mooneys have had FIKI TKS as a factory option, there is also a non-FIKI retrofit for long and I think mid bodies too.

Some of my wife's family have a couple of cabins in Three Lakes, just south of there.

Have you ever flown in there? Nicest grass strip I've ever been to. It's lit! And there's frequently a King Air there, and I've seen an Aerostar and some other birds you don't normally see on grass there as well.

Congratulations!

Thanks!

And the yard work will keep. I just mowed some 8" tall grass today...

If I don't get the garlic mustard burned early enough, it makes 10x more for next year... And it's gonna be a lot easier to take care of the massive tree branch that came down before I can't mow around it and weeds start growing... And it's a lot easier to do a lot of things before the leaves are growing... Sigh. :(

When are the meetups?
I’m getting my annual done now

Well, my maybe is trending to a no. a&p found a carb issue in annual and needs more time to Trouble shoot it.

See title for current one. 1100 @ RPJ. I’m happy to pick people up.

Which airport are you departing from and what time? I’m not usually a morning person.

The plane is at KARR, but I want to do a bit more than fly the 9 minutes from there to RPJ. Where you at.

Haha that’s a flight! I’m in the city but fly out of KUGN.

I'll probably drive the 40 mins to Rochelle given (forecasted) wx. If it clears up I'll do the 16 min flight!
