MDT Class D and TRSA to be replaced by Class C on Jul 11 2024

Rough guess, 20 of them?

I haven't looked to see how many lately, but I've been into three within the past few years. ILM in North Carolina, and AGS and MCN in Georgia.
 
Counting MDT, there are exactly 30 right now. Others have grown up into class Cs and Bs.
 
Here is a list of TRSAs from wikipedia. According to that site, the one I mentioned early in Montgomery is actually based on Maxwell AFB (KMXF), not Montgomery Regional (KMGM). If true, a little odd, although centered on KMXF, it goes to the surface at KMGM and not at KMXF.

It’s based on Montgomery, not Maxwell. For some reason Wikipedia names the location of the Approach Control Facility. Where the Approach Controllers work is not pertinent. The Approach Controllers for Palm Springs KPSP work 65 miles away in San Diego.

There are some even longer distances. Denver TRACON handles Grand Junction, 184 NM away.
 
Fort Smith AR, KFSM still has a TRSA
