Malaysian Airliner missing?

I get it now. That's just my dry wit. Let's try again:

What if the flight crew was asleep? It wouldn't be the first time it happened. And their last transmission was "good night".... :goofy: The folks in the back might not have known anything was wrong until it was way too late.

HTH.

Yeah!!! thats it. Someone put a couple of Ambien pills in the coffee and took over. No need to carry weapons. These guys are smart.

If you wanted to steal an airliner for a sneak terror attack why would you do it in such a spectacular way as to end up with pretty much everyone on the planet looking for it? :dunno:

Israel has a 24/7 CAP, F-15 are always airborne there. Israel as always is very well prepared for this eventuality.

I think it was the movie World War Z

The only country that survived the zombie apocalypse was Israel

I wish as much attention/investigation is being done re the recent unauthorized entry to my locked hangar, theft of my battery charger; and who found the ignition key and left it in the ignition switch, turned "ON." Only three other people have a key to my hangar and it was neither of those. But somebody obviously tried to start and/or steal my plane.

Well,, that sucks...

Did the cops come out and at least dust for prints??:dunno:

If it is some sort of conspiracy then the one I'd be buying is some agency trying to scare us all into increasing its funding and increasing it's surveillance authority.

No. You don't say! :)

It's turning into a full-time job just figuring out the new "facts" each day. They went off radar and all contact was lost, no -- it was lost 2 hours later, no 4 hours later, no we got a ping 7.5 hours after TO. There was no means of tracking. Scratch that, we had primary returns. There was no beamed engine data. Scratch that too, it was pinging RR and/or Boeing. It had 2 hours of extra fuel, make that 6. It went East, make that West. It could be anywhere in an area roughly 150% the size of United States....

I give up until there's wreckage (or a plane) in-hand. If I had to wager money right this second, I'd say it's on the bottom of the ocean or crashed somewhere (far away) that just hasn't been searched yet. The coordination that seems required to fly it clandestinely to some remote base seems extreme -- and to what end that couldn't be accomplished by some far easier/quieter/stealthily manner?

'Think I'll just start reading the news every 2nd or 3rd day -- so the story is totally anew and fresh each time! By Friday they'll have the thing spotted near one of Putin's villas.

If they were asleep how could they say "good night"?

I say "good night" every time I change controllers/centers.

According to some of the posters I guess I'm a turrist.

If they're terrorists... Well, they've got the whole world afraid now too.

They may already know where it went and need more time to figure out how to a) explain how they know without giving away capabilities / cover story, b) how to handle how embarrassing it is.

It's been too many days for how fast those types of things usually go down, but there's a good chance someone knows exactly where it went, and can't give away their ability to see that...

If they're terrorists... Well, they've got the whole world afraid now too.

Now? For the past ten years I've been taking my shoes off to get on an airliner, can't carry a bottle of shampoo with me, can't fly my Aeronca Champ anywhere near a football game, need a security pass to get through the perimeter fence to get to my own hangar, can't say hi to Jack at an airport without getting hauled off and detained by a couple of guys with no necks and three big letters on the back of their shirt....

and you say now we're afraid?

You've got that right.

AP story, interviewing a former NTSB member, John Goglia, who was the first and only A&P member of the NTSB. The AP story has a fairly detailed description of what was involved in turning off avionics:

To turn off the transponder:
... someone in the cockpit would have to turn a knob with multiple selections to the off position while pressing down at the same time, said John Goglia, a former member of the National Transportation Safety Board. That’s something a pilot would know how to do, but it could also be learned by someone who researched the plane on the internet, he said.

To turn off ACARS:
The system, which has two parts, is used to send short messages via a satellite or VHF radio to the airline’s home base. The information part of the system was shut down, but not the transmission part. In most planes, the information part of the system can be shut down by hitting cockpit switches in sequence in order to get to a computer screen where an option must be selected using a keypad, said Goglia, an expert on aircraft maintenance.
That’s also something a pilot would know how to do, but that could also be discovered through research, he said.
But to turn off the other part of the ACARS, it would be necessary to go to an electronics bay beneath the cockpit. That’s something a pilot wouldn’t normally know how to do, Goglia said, and it wasn’t done in the case of the Malaysia plane.

All I know for sure is thank god the media is there to make guesses for us. Lord knows we'd never be able to do that ourselves.

No, it's just put various anti-terrorism and national security groups on alert.

Of course, I'm someone who didn't and never did understand why anyone was living in fear after 9/11 so I suppose take that with a grain of salt.

I can't keep up with all the new info.

The only thing I fear is what security measures DHS will institute in the wake of this fiasco....:hairraise:.....

Well, I suppose we can all expect to be required to placard our "OFF" selector position on the transponder INOP.

The way airline security is going this is my prediction.

One when you fly commercial you'll go to the airport and everything you have on you including your shoes and clothes will be confiscated and incinerated. They will issue you a hospital style gown and barcoded wristband. You will lie down on a stretcher-like device and be given a sedative.

A TSA agent will cart you onto the aircraft and place you on your shelf and strap you in. The aircraft will be piloted by an AI computer as no human can be trusted.

Apon arrival you are dumped onto the floor in a recovery room where they will have stale crackers and an empty water-cooler. Passengers who were not pre-screened may experience some rectal discomfort.

Ok, now my theory is an avionics bay fire that resulted in a hull breech/decompression (or vice versa), but not severe enough to bring it down immediately. Maybe the hull breech extinguished the fire. The pilots lost comm, but were able to start a turn back using the A/P but were rendered unconscious before they could do anything else.

I can't believe somebody hasn't mentioned the most obvious and likely scenario, that it was hijacked by the U.S. Government to spay us with CHEMTRAILS. The fact that none of you have mentioned this leads me to believe that you are all government employees and are in on the conspiracy.

ROFL. I was going to go there but the recent conversation with my step-sister's husband who is fully into this conspiracy, left me far too annoyed to bring it up again. Also left me feeling sorry for my sis.

Why not have a theory that aliens took over flight 370. Seems like each theory is a shot in the dark anyway lol

Just a heads up Topgun- If you ever see a red laser dot, run! Actually... never mind. It'll already be too late. Carry on as you were.

:D

No kidding. Everybody knows there are no such things as chemtrails. What a load of BS! However your alien theory is very plausible. Everyone knows there are aliens and they're always taking our stuff. Thieving little bastards need to just go back to their own dimension and give us our stuff, people and time back! I would ask our government to demand it, but it's pretty obvious who they work for!

Oh well, at least they allow us to use their Velcro.

He said spay...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
