There are many contrary opinions. We all don't have to agree on this
The same is true for, say, immigration, abortion, religion, and a host of other issues. If we’re to imply “contrary opinions” are “equally valid opinions”, as seems to be the case here, then we need to be consistent across the board, including on those and others. Then again (as I’ve quoted before):
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." Asimov "A Cult of Ignorance", Newsweek, Jan. 21, 1980
The main point, to me, is it shouldn't be compulsory.
Again, we need to be consistent. It’s in the common good AS WELL AS the personal good for people to be vaccinated, whether one believes it or not. Should we say it shouldn’t be compulsory to drive on the right side of the road in the US? There’s something bigger than me, like it or not.
Not trying to be argumentative.
