Ok, John King or Martha King- who's the better pilot?

Like who would win in a dogfight? Better yet who would you want with you in the cockpit when you've just hit your fuel reserve in a super sketchy situation and your family is in the back?
 
Neither, I would rather take the family into the ground than either of those two in a plane with me. If it were just me and one of them, I would nose down and take us both out.
 
The only vid ive watched of the two (Citation 500) has Martha as PIC and John as SIC. So yeah, Martha runs that aviation marriage.

If you read about their decision making, and they freely admit it, in Flying magazine and other places,
makes one rather take the bus. So yeah, I'm in the neither camp.
 
Gotta go with Martha. Seems like she would be quick to make a decision and stick with it. Often wrong but never in doubt. John seems like he’d hem and haw while your burning up alititude with bad puns lol

Hmmm ... how many times have you made a questionable decision, and then just because everything ended well, shrugged it off? Only about a zillion times for me (in all phases of life).
 
Isn’t John grounded? I read somewhere he has or had a medical issue. FAA was busting his bxxl’s..

Has anyone else noticed that Marth King bears a superficial resemblance to Martha Simpson?

Perhaps but they've made some bonehead decisions. I stand by what I wrote. You can go up with them if you like.

Honestly I wasnt expecting this much outright disdain. I mean they've both got an alabete soup of certs behind their names (though John is grounded I think), they've been type rated for all kinds of big planes and flown a ton of hours. Oh yeah, they've also taught hundreds of thousands of pilots the fundamentals of airmanship.

I'm actually going through their IFR test prep course right now- I just rediscovered how Meme worthy the Kings are. I haven't found any evidence of them being excessively boneheaded or poor decision makers (I did find an Article on the net where they were once detained by the cops at gunpoint in a case of mistaken identity which was kind of hilarious knowing no one got hurt). They have opinions on the Aviation industry and flight training that aren't universally accepted or lauded as brilliant, but at least they have something to share.

I think there are just a few generations of CFIs that get ****ed when students walk up to them with a passing FAA knowledge test score sheet and a test endorsement that says kings schools on it saying, "I don't need ground school; we can just go fly!"

That takes $$ out of a CFI pockets. So instead of admitting that their butthurt about not being able to bill a PPL student an additional $2500+ of "Ground instruction" they concoct a bunch of reasons to trash them.

Just my two cents.

I think with a couple of obvious and over the top exceptions, most of it is just good natured fun. I think their courses do a pretty good job of explaining things but their jokes are overly cheesy so it's fun to poke fun at that. Also their fashion choices at times have been questionable and make for an easy target. Still, I'd recommend their courses to anyone wanting to pass a FAA written.

In a way it is somewhat similar to us hammering Harrison Ford for being a schmuck when he landed on the taxiway. I bet most of us who did the hammering are actually big fans. Heck, we hammer each other on here all the time. Sure sometimes there may be a little actual hostility but usually it is just poking fun at friends.

Exactly. Harrison is here on the forum pretty frequently (his screen name is James331) and he gets ragged on quite a bit. It’s all good natured, though.

They are slightly campy on their videos. I did get a 92% on my written and actually did ace my PPL oral using the King's training materials.
 
Actually Martha is not a bad teacher. She has a way of repeating things that help pound them into your head.

There is how many GA pilots in the US? How many are women? How many on POA?
