iOS 8.4 is out

The only buy im noticing is with the screen lighting back up during a phone call. Made a call, pulled the phone away from my face to push some buttons and the screen wouldnt come back on. Had to restart the phone.

Happened once. Flew 1.75 hours today with FF and stratus and had no issues.

:goofy:

Reminds me of the classic exchange...

Braddock: "Winston, you are drunk, and what's more you are disgustingly drunk."

Churchill: "Bessie, my dear, you are ugly, and what's more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly."

We've got to get together and drink sometime. Maybe not disgustingly drunk, but drunk enough :D

Gaston's...October...be there!

I was going to complain about not having a plane to fly in with, then about not having any money to run said plane, then about it being too far away...

Then I actually looked how far away it is from OKC - about 6 hours driving.

I would need to somehow gain more of this magical substance called money between now and then to afford to go, but I actually will consider it :D

Has anyone else had an issue with the INTERNAL GPS after upgrading to 8.4? Waze and google maps started acting very erratically on my iPhone 6, and there's lots of buzz about this new problem online. I use an external GPS (GDL39-3D), so hopefully this won't affect me while flying.

I did have a problem with Waze and Google maps, for a while. I rebooted the phone. And now all is good.

I haven't purchased my external gps yet and haven't decided what to get. I'm actually wondering if I even need it since I have a panel mounted Garmin 396 so I don't really need the moving map stuff. I may just use the iPad as an EFB to replace my sectionals and AFD.

It looks to me like 8.4's main mission is to foist Apple Music on to us. Is it going to be like one of those built-in apps you can't get rid of?

Other than moving my audiobooks, really don't notice a difference on my 5S

I did the same thing, and everything is good. There was some speculation on the web that this issue was really caused by the leap second adjustment at the end of June. I'm just glad all is well now.

No quick easy way to shuffle music

I did not upgrade the iOS on my old iPad 3 (still sitting on 8.1 I think), but got a new iPad Air 2 this week that came with 8.4, and have been trying to get all my data and apps on it. One thing I noticed tonight is WnB Pro does not work as well. The sliders are missing and it doesn't load the profile you have saved. Anybody else see the same thing?

That is what I'm wondering. My phone is 8.3, the iPad (without cellular) is 8.2. I'm not feeling compelled to upgrade either. Perhaps one more Apple App that sits on screen space with no way of getting rid of it.

Just make a folder, call it "Unused" or "Drek" or whatever, and drag it all the way to the right to a page of Apps you never scroll to.

Out of sight, out of mind...

:)

I took a word from Lou's vocabulary and made a "crApple" folder that sits on a page by itself and is never seen.

You guys must wake up in the morning looking for things to ***** about because you sure are good at it. 8.4 is working perfectly. Apple Music is fantastic, too, by the way. All it does is add a new dimension to iTunes. Maybe you ought to fly some so you have something more interesting to talk about?

I'd place most of the posts in this thread into the "observation" category rather than the "bitching" category.

Well, except for yours. It was bitching (and not in the "cool" sense of the word...but that would be "bitchin'" and not "bitching" anyway).

Amazing how that works. :)

All OS issues aside, now that my iPhone 5 is two years old, the battery life is becoming a crap-shoot. Will it last 4 hours or the whole day? Who knows??? :dunno:

To balance it out Google isn't any better. I was at ORD last week trying to find a rental car that wasn't already booked and my phone was running dog slow because it was downloading this enormous update for NFL Mobile - an app I don't use, don't want and had a heck of a time getting rid of.

I like the crApple folder idea though, similar to how I deal with spam or nuisance phone calls - I add the number to my contacts list, name it Spam and set the ringtone to silent or direct to voicemail so I never get the call.

i used to have an iphone..then ios whatever came out and the thing didn't have enough memory to install it so i quit having an iphone. I'm all about people enjoying their shiny new toys, but planned obsolescence antagonizes me as a consumer. Homey don't play that.

How's that 8 track player working these days?

I know, I do that. I keep all of the junk apps on a screen by themselves. The point is, WHY is Apple providing us these icons/programs that cannot be deleted? They take memory space, and probably slow down the system.

The right thing to do would be to list out the optional updates to each new OS that allows users to check which ones they prefer to install.

That's a helluva idea...especially since Verizon only allows one to block six or eight numbers for free.

I have not read the entire thread so forgive me if this has been covered...with the 8.3 update, I lost my "slider" function on my favorite app- weight & balance pro (W&BPRO) 8.4 did not restore it. Other apps with sliders have been affected, any chance of correction in future updates?

I noticed the same thing. (See post#92). Although I jumped from 8.0 to 8.4, so did not know it was introduced with 8.3

The iphone 6 plus. I'm about to try it out on my older gigantic ipad to see if it bricks, if not, I'll try it on my aviation-only ipad mini
